I don't listen to his music but this isn't the first time he's addressed white privilege. Went in depth on it in interviews.
Also, its silly wanting him to just stop doing something he enjoys and makes money off. He's a human. There's also loads of black artists who have eaten and are eating way better than Macklemore.

And so what is he doing besides just acknowledging his white privilege? Didn't he also do a song combating homophobia? Are you sure he isn't just playing up the only lane he knows how to? My other point is that black people have already said what he is saying now time and time again. The only reason he's getting props for it is because he is white, and because white people are more likely to listen to him. Thats what I mean when I say he is the physical manifestation of white privilege.

Macklemore has always seen genuine to me. He has gone through a lot of shyt in his life and just raps about his experiences and views.

Rhythmless, swagless, no inflection, his patterns are basic, the beats he rhymes on are dated, and he has no "snap".
There is no conviction behind his words and he just raps "at" the beat instead of being a part of it or bending it with his words...or bending his words with the rhythm. Son doesn't have "it".
