it's probably not even real native americans, you know how white people love thinking they are 10% native americans..they are the ones who answered this question
i just referred to my old statistics textbook.
In to determine the current sample size to use in order to reduce the margin of error to 5% for a population of 5 million
you would have to poll a minimum of 16500 adults randomly from various locations to have an accurate outcome that representative of the whole population.
the sample formula is as follows feel free to check my math. ( I admit it may off a little)
SS= (Z^2 * (p) * (1-p)) / c^2
z = Z value (e.g. 1.96 for 95% confidence level)
p = percentage picking a choice (.5 used for sample size needed)
c= confidence interval, expressed as decimal
yes there is exact science to this. you can't just pick a random number and act like it means something.

It's not an assumption, it's mathematics.quite the assumption. same paper who ran the poll didnt even wait an hour to try and tie the poll results into talk for a new stadium.
you didnt make an assumption? you literally said "assuming"It's not an assumption, it's mathematics.

I made no statement on the motives of the people who conducted the poll, or any of their other methodology. I just said 504 people is enough of a sample size to be statistically significant.
im a statistics major i know how polls work504 people is statistically significant, assuming it was randomized enough throughout the American Indian population.
For a population of 5 million it's mathematically NOT a large enough sample size.It's not an assumption, it's mathematics.

That dude Roddy Right is one of the biggest dumbasses on this site. It's best to just ignore his stances on anything
Now native americans are white according to the coli. When will the ignorance end![]()
So which one one of you nikkas is rightFor a population of 5 million it's mathematically NOT a large enough sample size.

For 95% confidence interval with a margin of error of +/- 5% in a population of 5,000,000, you only need a sample size of 384.For a population of 5 million it's mathematically NOT a large enough sample size.
if truly randomized its fine. the fact that they let people who arent affiliated with tribes have a say, polling the types of folk who put down 1/16th cherokee on college applications etc, along with the paper who took the survey using it only an hour later as fuel to jumpstart the stadium funding chatter you can pretty reasonable come to the conclusion that this poll is very flawed and the paper had an agenda in mindFor a population of 5 million it's mathematically NOT a large enough sample size.
Whatever. My only point was to say that the sample size of 504 was enough.you didnt make an assumption? you literally said "assuming"
im a statistics major i know how polls work

The population is 5.5 million and confidence intervals when performing national censuses are always performed at 99% confidence interval. You cant do a poll at 95% interval and then apply it to data that uses a 99% interval, that throws the skew off even further.For 95% confidence interval with a margin of error of +/- 5% in a population of 5,000,000, you only need a sample size of 384.
