Fixed that for you.
Working in the construction field, within a Hurricane/Earthquake zone made me realize how lackadaisical American Architecture was when it came to stability and structure as opposed to style and finish. Even as a kid working as a dogsbody on construction sites, I was always confused how American kids say "I punched a hole in my bedroom wall" until I actually got to stay in an American home and realize that the shyt ain't nothing but Untreated wood (Douglas Fir that's prone to termites) and Sheetrock/Cement board.
The fact that you can walk through most American houses with a sledge and collapse the bytch like Samson was always a scary premise to me but when I actually had to deal with American Carpenters/Builders/Contractors and realized that they tried to justify (while shytting on Caribbean Construction) the use of untreated lumber and ply in houses rather than "Expensive" treated lumber or better yet, Block and Rebar as "Cost effective" compared to what we (And most everyone else outside of America apparently) use, then I realized it was something bigger at play here 'cause what's the sense in actually building a sand castle where the shore comes in? Why are houses in Florida, made so shoddily?
Watching Masons lay and set blocks with absolutely no steel in them or concrete poured into the columns is just criminal.
