didnt have much of a choice there.
He did. He had FOUR choices. Even if they all sucked, he had options (not just at QB but in other places). He had every chance to at least make himself less to blame for this season and he didn't do it. The season was gonna be a failure no matter what, but standing pat made it look like he didn't think there was much wrong when there was.

Spoiler: all the other guys are actually worse. Fitzpatrick, as bad as he is, was the only passable starter they could have went with. Petty is god awful as we see and Hack is a joke. Geno got hurt again.

Then he shoulda proved it. Like I said, it wasn't JUST QB. If he showed how bad his team was, then much of the criticism would be directed towards Maccagnan because hey, he threw everything at the wall and nothing stuck. If he shows that, at least he tried to come up with something. It took the Jets having to be mathematically eliminated from a race they were never in for him to not worry so much about the best chance to win a game. He was never gonna win those games.

If the idea was to start a QB they thought would be bad, then there was no reason to spend like morons two years ago. Geno, Petty and Hack were all on the bench behind Fitz because they're worse...and they spent a ton of money on free agents.

I'm not just talking about QB!

And it didn't matter if they were worse. He wasn't winning those games anyway. NOTHING he could have done was gonna save his season, but trying something other than status quo would have gotten him more sympathy than what he has now. Are you not understanding that? He's the coach, not the GM. If they're supposedly on equal footing, why would I leave myself vulnerable to getting the boot because my equal didn't hold up his end? All that loyalty might get him fired while the guy who put the team together gets another year. Bowles coulda avoided that (and still might). Once the season was a lost cause (so week 3 or 4), he shoulda played every player who wasn't worth shyt to show everyone he didn't have shyt. Instead he insisted something that wasn't working was gonna work.

Last time I checked, the only big free agent they signed this past offseason was Forte. I'm talking about just this season.

He benched Fitzpatrick week 7. All the young guys have been playing and they all pretty much look terrible. I think Maccagnan's much more the issue than Bowles is and have stood by that. The picks and signings have all been abysmal. There's hardly an talent on the roster and they've spent more than anyone. Not to mention having a logjam of DT's and then drafting another one without getting rid of any on the roster. Maccagnan is beyond out of his league....

That's not the issue here. Maccagnan's not getting fired this season whether you like it or not. Bowles could have made that less of a certainty but not setting himself up to be the fall guy for this.

All I want for Christmas is for Bevell to be fired or get a HC job.

Gonna have to wait on that one though :manny:

Is Bowles gonna get fired doe? @NYC Rebel @tremonthustler1 @Prodigal Syndicate @Trip @Racer X

Despite his mistakes he doesn't have a roster you can compete with. I think he needs another season

Pagano should be gone
McCoy should be out in SD
Rex is out
Marvin Lewis is :patrice: team took a huge step back this yr but he's got them to the playoffs consistently the past 4 years

IDK what happens with Chip Kelly or Baalke in SF @dora_da_destroyer @LastEmperor2k2 @FaTaL @Rekkapryde @itsyoung!!

I think Baalke goes immediately

New GM has the right to either keep Kelly or find a new coach, he then let's Kelly go a little after he is hired
