A when these rules change, does this go through team owners and NFLPA for approval too? Like do players have any influence?

But the pulling to the ground thing is basically what a hip drop is :skip:

Wrap em up and pull him down right? That's not what you just saw?

Whats wrong with that tackle other then a player got injured unfortunately?

I get it. The NFL has to put some work into firmly establishing what they consider a hip-drop tackle as none of the videos are 100% consistent. Honestly it looks like this will be a mess. I've seen 3 different things being called "hip-drop".

But I can say what is wrong with the tackle. The defender is bouncing off the grass to make a lower body tackle. He was able to crumple Andrews up without using proper form, and without risking Andrews making him a highlight (you see the guns). Wilson had the speed to catch up to Andrews pretty quickly, why did he leave his feet at all? The FOOTBALL is UP THERE. He was scared, trying to cause injury, or both.

Defenses caught up this past year and they need to give offenses and offensive coordinators another advantage. That's all this is. They need to blame all of these coaches hiring their homies and owners hiring the "young" guy instead of qualified coaches.

I THINK the committee, currently made up of 3 NFL coaches, 4 team officials and 1 owner, makes a recommendation and then it goes to the team owners. The proposed rule needs 75% of owners support to be implemented.

My sense is that the NFL (who selects the competition committee) is unlikely to have things sent to the owners unless they know it will get the votes.
