Y'all crazy.its a dirty tackle. No coach teaches it. If you're after a ball carrier or even trying to tackle the ball, its just not a good way to get the ball carrier down.
Lol. What exactly is "tackle the ball"?

It's all fine and dandy until a ball carrier drags you like Indiana Jones and you have no choice but plant your weight to bring him to the ground.
The hip drop has always been a trash ass way to tackle somebody if you ask me. That's what you do if you don't have proper form in the 1st place and it's just as easy to roll the person you're tackling. You do a hip drop and you're almost guaranteed to hurt the person you're tackling, or yourself because there's a good chance they'll fall on your head or chest. It needs to be banned.
Not my breh too. At least you actually played ball :salute: Yeah it's not taught but it's not something that can be prevented. Ive made that kind of tackle multiple times as a skinny DB not because I wanted to but because otherwise a big RB would just drag me with him. Pause. You have this in nfl too. Rbs at around 230 and dbs around 185.

This tackle never is a problem when you coming down field with the player in front of you. It's when you're in pursuit and can't go for the feet (usually because if you miss it's a free td if u a safety) but need to stop the momentum of the runner, where it happens.

Now tell me how that goes if Javier Arenas or Lamarcus Joyner does this on a big Gronk or Derrick Henry type mf

If you're a grown man and can wrap somebody up, you can tackle them. The majority of missed tackles come from taking poor angles or going too high or coming in scared anyways, not usually from using proper form. I've seen Derrick Henry go down plenty of time from a smaller guy tackling the right way, most misses if you notice, come from people trying to lay a big hit with their shoulder.

Yeah I mean in those cases best I could do is try to drive him off his feet instead of dropping my weight. You already got momentum towards the ball carrier to catch him if you can try to drop tackle, best thing to do is keep your feet moving and swing the ball carrier around almost like a wrestling move instead of dropping your weight. It wasn't illegal to hip drop but I've seen the tackler get hurt as much as the ballcarrier with those hits.

That tackle happens 1000s of times during the season and we only get two handful of "catastrophic" injuries (in college and in the pros). Hate to sound callous but Travis should've slid or got down instead of fighting for extra yardage. The onus being put on the defense to do the "right play" instead of the opposite is BS but fukk it, aim for the knees.

No it doesn't.

It rarely happens which is why it's ridiculous people are acting like this ruling handicaps defenses.

Dropping your weight into someone's leg is what they banned. That specific tackle doesn't happen much but when it does the injury risk is 25x greater than a normal tackle. Geno was lucky this didn't end his season:

They can drop to the ground but they can't whip their body into someone's leg.

The horse collar tackle had a high injury rate and was banned. Defenses adjusted and you rarely see anyone flagged for it. They'll adjust to this.

So. Cal
if they ban this, then they better start implementing rules that if a player is wrapped up for X amount of seconds, call the play dead. Any player getting wrapped up from behind is gonna get called. Offensive players are gonna dive and defender gonna get flagged.

So dumb how they are slowly fading defenses out of the game. Last year we saw the rise of defense and now they put this dumb ass rule in :snoop:

And if you’re in pursuit? You want the tackler to run in front of a mf and “properly” tackle? And your first sentence is stupid. We’ve seen plenty of mf’s try to go head up and get ran tf over. You nikkas couldn’t have played football. Even the players union is against this.

Dog if you are Tackling someone from behind, you think a mf is gonna be standing straight up when trying to do it? That pic you posted is a damn horse collar. I remember peeps in the thread being angry it wasn’t called.

Some mf’s are slippery ans hell and your tackle may start in the midsection and momentum takes sliding down. Then ref interpretation is another thing that will be subjective. Again, the players are against it. Pretty sure they have a better gauge in this than us couch surfers

Will take time for defenders to get the hang of it but damn there's so much teaching/re-teaching that has had to be done in football over the last couple decades.

Picking away at a naturally violent game played at such a fast speed is tough but football will still reign for the foreseeable future

When they say banning, do they mean a 10 yard penalty? Or potential suspension, fine and shyt?

They’ve gotta blame the people doing it intentionally. Cause if it was unintentional it would be an increasing trend

No disrespect bro

I ain’t never met anyone who played defense in their life who is tryna break someone leg by doing the hip drop

It’s literally a technique they taught us, wrap up and drop your weight

shyt like this just makes defenders think twice before making a play, which ironically gets people hurt more
Exactly. Aint shyt deliberate about it. But you got niqqas watching slow motion replay making you think it's calculated and intentional.
