kickers were 97% from the center between 30-35 yards. id figure around 95% will be the going rate with extended practice from that spot

@FO_ASchatz: Smart coaches will now generally go for 2 (roughly 0.99 exp pts) instead of 1 (now roughly 0.91 exp pts based on 2013-2014).

@FO_ASchatz: In particular, teams like SEA and CAR with strong short-yardage QBs should now always go for 2 except in tie games late.

Diabolical.

This news comes down the same day as the NBA Draft Lottery,
and this will take a back seat to the Deflate-Gate appeal story.

i'm just sayinig, when a playoff game or something is on the line, and a team has worked all 4th quarter for a dramatic comeback.....and the kicker botches the extra point & blows the game, it's gonna be bad for the fans/viewers.

Yep. Games are going to be lost over this. Those kicks will be more difficult in cold weather and in stadiums like Heinz Field or in NY with swirling winds.

This is unnecessary and takes away from the drama of going for two only when you need it. Either make TD's worth 7 and eliminate PAT or keep it as is.

it rates about even as it stands imo. those football outsiders numbers id assume use the conversion rate of all fg's from that distance, when only center fgs should be in the equation not kicks from the hash. also its reasonable to assume kickers get better, since there will be dedicated practice from that spot. coaches will take the more conservative approach (kicking the PAT) much more often than going for 2 and risk getting lambasted by media and fans that dont know any better if the 2 pointer fails

So what that makes it a 35yard kick? That's not a chip shot anymore, there's going to be a whole lot of fukkery. What's the statistics on making 35yard fg?

It's a 32-yrd. extra point (add 17 yrds. to the spot of the snap).

:mjcry: I can already see the Saints kickers committing some fukkery with this new rule.
