it's getting bigger traction now... just seen them talking bout it on espn and nfl network and here's the latest article from SI.com where they explain it a little more

http://tracking.si.com/2013/09/05/nfl-read-option-quarterbacks-tackled/?sct=nfl_t2_a13

In the video, Blandino explains:

“He is still treated as a runner until he is clearly out of the play,” Blandino said. “The quarterback makes the pitch, he’s still a runner — he can be hit like a runner until he’s clearly out of the play.”

The league believes a running a play specifically designed to keep potential tacklers guessing makes any player who might fake carrying the ball should be fair game.

“The quarterback and the running back, they’re both treated as runners. We don’t know who has the football, we don’t know who’s going to take it, so both players are treated as runners,” Blandino said.

Blandino emphasizes that, while quarterbacks retain the ability to protect themselves by sliding to the ground, they are not granted the same protection while running the read-option.

so sliding won't even get you out of being hit... but ONLY if you run the read option... i'll say it again..

i don't have a problem with contact..

i have a problem with college doing this for damn near 100 years and being cool... and the nfl has 5 black qbs get successful on it and completely shyts on the whole program with RULE changes

they said for the entire NFL existance that you can't run the option cause it's much better defense.. it's impossible with the speed of the nfl... they come right in and shut them the fukk up and run it all day to the super bowl and what do they do... change the rules to help the defense out... that's a p*ssy ass move
It's been this way in football for years breh. How is that a p*ssy move? In defending ANY option offense from HS to the pros you're taught to follow through on your assignment. Watch a team run the triple option. The QB gets cracked all the time. Is the defense supposed to wait until the QB is 10 yards down the field before they react? :comeon: All you gotta do is put your hands up and you can't get hit. Simple.

watch the video fam... i'm not talking bout the triple..

THEY ARE LETTING DEFENDERS HIT THE QB WITH NO PENALTY EVEN IF THEY HANDED THE BALL OFF AS A NORMAL HANDOFF BUT MAKE A POSTURE THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE THE BALL

so tom brady does a handoff and pretends to throw and gets tapped on the head, 15 yard penalty

RG3 does the same handoff and pretends to run a bootleg and gets hit in the knee and it's perfectly cool

that's never been in the league or 3-5 networks, including nfl network, and countless magazines, websites, along with nfl coaches, wouldn't be asking about it, complaining about it and reporting on it

and surprise surprise, when do they change the rule?? after tebow? nope.. after 3 black qbs embarass defenses on the way to rookie of the year, 8-0 at home, and a super bowl appearance

So you wanna fake out the D but get mad when they get faked out and hit you? :what: :heh:

But it's a double standard because they make a thousand unnatural rules to protect the white QB's but now they're making rules to actually hurt the black QB's. fukked up, b.

Yep, would they allow Brees, the Mannings, Brady, and Rodgers to be hit on a fake hand-off? How do we know they are not doing a bootleg to pick up some yards. The league is seeing an influx of QBs with legit arms, accuracy and running ability. The next batch of great QBs in college are primarily duel threats. If the QB position continues to get too much melanin and they start winning Super Bowls it could be an image problem for the league.

Good.

You can't have it both ways. You want the QB to be able to deceive defenses, and he does exactly that. But then you also want him to be protected when he hands the ball off, yet starts running to try and trick the DE/OLB :wtf:
fukk that shyt. These QBs want to try and trick 265lb DEs and OLBs, that's fine. But they can't expect all the protections afforded to a QB who simply turns around and hands the ball off. It's not fair to defenses when you say "you can't touch the QB on the zone read, because there's a chance he doesn't have the ball at all!!"

This.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Its funny because I made a post back in early July saying the best way to defend the read option is by ignoring the running back and fukking the quarterback up every time regardless if he pitches the ball or not. Eventually they will get tired of getting hit.

Read the article. It clearly says rule changes for 2013. What youre talking about. That's like handoffs and what not.

The read option is shotgun or something, I fake it to my rb and pull it back and run outside. The next play I do the exact same thing. Except I actually give it to my rb......

Now if I put my damn hands up, they know I don't have the ball. So what good is me running outside to fake like I got it? They've eliminated the whole "fake" cause I gotta put my damn hands up.

If I was to attempt to fake it last year, you hit me, that's 15 yards. I'm a qb and I don't have the ball. So defenders would have to second guess or at least hesitate and make sure I had it. Which is why it's so hard to stop

Now they saying if you attempt that fake, they don't have to worry bout shyt. They can just lay your qb out whether he got the ball or not. So running the OPTION portion of it, just lost the whole point of the design. Which is to FAKE out the defense
I understand you have a pretty little article and shyt, but don't let a link be the end all to everything :snoop:
I live n the DC area, the home of the Read Option, RG3. This rule was in place LAST YEAR
The first couple of games, it was an issue cuz RG3 would take unnessary hits. Then this exact rule was put in place where the officials said he had to put his hands up as early as possible. Go check some tape, google it bruh
But I can assure you, this was established last year. Maybe last year it was the RG3 only rule :wow:

Rules in place to stop that black mans shine :whew:
