Caleb so far is a inconsistent, average qb. the hate he gets like these Ls are all his fault is weird.

If your defense turns into a complete sieve because your top corner is out the shyt doesn't work, scheme around it or something. a 50 burger is embarassing.

He currently doesn't fit the scheme called for in Chicago. That said, I don't know what he could have done differently to keep Chicago from taking that L.

Aaron Rogers must have a jinx associated to him because wherever he goes the defense becomes ass

Nfl needs to flex all bengal games the rest of the season

The giants will beat the chiefs this Sunday.

I think it’s at most a vocal minority who are really upset about Wiliams’ performance yesterday, but through two games, basically every metric I can find has him looking ok versus the rest of his draft class. And I’m not sure if anyone has had two tougher defensive matchups yet.

2nd-year QBs by QBR:

15. Penix 62.6
16. Maye 60.3
17. Williams 57.7
18. Rattler 57.6
26. Nix 43.6
28. Daniels 39.1
32. McCarthy 20.4

2nd-Year QBs by RTG:

10. Maye 100.9
18. Daniels 90.8
19. Rattler 90.7
21. Williams 89.1
22. Penix 88.9
27. Nix 82.0
34. McCarthy 67.2

2nd-year QBs by Success %:

12. Williams 26.83
16. Nix 24.39
17. Penix 24.32
21. Maye 22.22
25. Rattler 20.65
26. Daniels 20.62
30. McCarthy 19.3

2nd-year QBs by EPA/Play

10. Maye .17
16. Penix .06
23. Nix -.04
25. Williams -.06
26. Rattler -.06
27. Daniels -.07
34. McCarthy -.46

Now I'm not saying hes a world beater, or even going to be super good but compared to his peers outside of Daniels there really isn't any huge separation if we are all going to be honest.

I think Caleb has a ways to go -- mainly as far as playing on time and in structure, etc... even though the off-schedule shyt is what got him drafted/highly-touted as he was coming out of USC.

What's got people thinking he's bad is literally the fact that Jayden Daniels looked great last season, and Bo Nix looked great down the stretch of last season. He's a victim of media-induced expectations more than anything, and in today's league, young QBs aren't allowed to struggle like that (unless you're JJ McCarthy, apparently).

All some people see is "Chicago has all these receivers, they spent so much money on the OL, and the defense was flirting with top 10 ranks before he got there."

Then the ball gets kicked off, and he isn't being protected (though his habits have caused him to faced pressure from time to time), he isn't getting the dominant run game that's the foundation of Ben Johnson's success in Detroit (which is why he got the job), and the defense looks horrific.

If the defense could have held that bum jj bears 1-1 and the convo is different. Lions were going to gape regardless.

I think BJ is also going to have some first HC flubs as far as decisions and game management but I think his overall scheme is A1. dudes are getting open, but the defense and penalties. you simply cant win with that.

Once again I'm not saying Caleb is the second coming like he was promised, but I'll give them this year. My thought process is that the talent and athleticism is so innately good if you can get him to actually learn to play in structure you have a great player. jury is out on if that will be possible.

Bagent is not the answer :dead:

I honestly think Caleb just isn't motivated in Chicago. He clearly doesn't want to be there and on top of that he's not used to being a position like this where he's expected to lose to everyone. His dad didn't say "Chicago is the place quarterbacks go to die" for nothing, Caleb probably believes that to some degree as well. And on top of that they hired attorneys to try to figure out how to NOT go to Chicago, which is insane.

I fully believe the reports that he's checked out in team meetings, not studying and has terrible body language. He hates playing there. There is no way this gets any better. They will end up trading him in a year or 2 if he isn't ruined by then
