This.
The "We haven’t had a real OutKast album in 25 years" argument is wack. Maybe other rappers should take note and retire, might as well go 5 for 5 than 5 for 15.
It’s not wack when Nas is still dropping fire. I’m not saying OutKast don’t belong on the list. Just not ahead of Nas Kayne and Jay. Kast is probably next though

The good albums Nas are dropping are nowhere near as good as Outkast big 5 though. And Nas has made bad albums, outkast never missed.

There's a reason if Kanye (used to), Kendrick and Scarface are the only names only being mentioned next to Outkast, catalog wise.

Honestly, Nas and Jay wouldn't even crack my top 10 (probably would mention them on my personal favorite lists though)

Ant top 10 is more accurate even though he should switch the top 2.

Kendrick havng the 2 highest rated rap albums ever, and and album often praised as possibly the best album in music period, all these projects in the same discography...you can't beat that. He's absolutely ahead of Outkast, and should be ahead of Ye's too.

Yea but Nas best 5 vs those big 5 is a different conversation. The Nas/Hit Boy run is a testament of longevity

Like someone said earlier, for who though? Many believe they pretty much sound the same, it ain't really difficult making 5 decent projects if they all sound the same. And tbh thats not enough for having a great discography.

Nas can drop as many decent albums as he wants, he still has a long way to come if he wants to be up there with the likes of Outkast, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, The Roots, A Tribe, as far as disco...their albums transcendend rap music and are all time music classics. Nas only got 1 of these albums that really transcended rap, and thats Illmatic (probably the best rap album ever though). These other dudes, while not having released the bible of hip hop, are being discussed by their peers, critics, fans, everyone, for having multiple music reference albums in music, not just in rap. And most of them are being celebrated for having nothing but GREAT albums in their catalog.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather listen to Nas and Jay than The Roots...but objectively, The Roots should be ranked higher than these 2 on that kind of list.

fukk, I hate MF Doom, but I could see why he would be in a top 5 :yeshrug: he never missed from a pure quality angle.

I mean since people all of a sudden conveniently care about what the Grammys say about hip hop KD1 won rap album of the year. KD 2 and 3 were both nominated. So all must have been critically acclaimed

I never said anything about that but for the record, Grammy aren't considered as part of the "critical acclaim" :yeshrug:
And since're talking about it, its worth mentioning only half of these nas albums (kd-magic series) are critically acclaimed. Critical acclaim is when an album receive a general score of at least 81/100

Typically it is. It’s either sales or critical acclaim. Some artist the rule doesn’t apply but typically the album needs critical acclaim or high sales for a nomination. I don’t think Nas had crazy high sales. How do you judge it then? I remember most of those albums getting great reception.

WC is probably one of very very few MCs with at least 8 albums and never dropped a wack album. Nas can't say that. Rakim can't say that. G rap, or Jay Z.
i never looked that deep into wc... sounds like i need to :mjpls:

which 3 are your top favs? ill get em off soulseek and play them in the car this week
