He used to have some battles with GP back in the day.

I recall Shaq making a comment that he was responsible for getting Van Exel traded from the Lakers.

Nick was a good player and very underrated by the average fan. He had a nice but streaky J but he was extremely clutch and wasnt afraid of the moment. Still remember killing nikkas with him in Live when he was on the Mavericks and they had their super team.

That's the one thing that always made me :usure: about Shaq.

He's always talked about how Nick was shook in the clutch and that's why Kobe had to take those shots against the Jazz, and that nobody on that team ever wanted the ball in the fourth quarter.

When the fukk has Nick Van Exel EVER looked shook at the end of a game? This mufukka was hitting clutch shots his whole career. shyt, he shut down the Boston Garden.

Watching him play in Dallas in the playoffs was fantastic too. He was a juiced up version of what Jason Terry became in Dallas (except JT got a title). Nick used to outplay Nash in those games.

:whew: Was just watching me some Nick Tha Kid, and :damn: I forgot how he fukking cooked a prime Gary Payton and the Sonics in the '95 playoffs. :wow:

:ohlawd: Not even Gary Payton, All 1st Team and year later winner of DPOTY could handle Nick Tha Kid. :whoo: 24.8 ppg, 5apg, 4rpg, 2.3 spg, .500 FG%, and .424 3P% vs. The Glove during the 1995 1st round vs. the Sonics. :salute: This man. I'm still mad and depressed to this day he didn't get a ring with us during the 3-peat. :to:

he single handedly won the mavs the series vs kings

in the fukking last seconds of the game nick van exel took the final shot in game 4 and 5......not dirk, not finley, not nash

in game 4 in sacramento he sent the game in overtime when they were down two with less than 5 seconds left. then he won it for them in overtime. he had like 40 something points off the bench

Even though we won championships I'm still not cool with Eddie and Nick being shipped out. They held it down during the lull period and made the games entertaining.

Those championship Lakers teams would have been that much nastier with Eddie and Nick. made me sad to see them become journeyman players after their Lakers stints.

I was a laker fan as a kid and I used to get so pissed when Van Exel pulled up for a wild 3 in transition but still was always a fan and got mad when they traded him for Tyronn Lue and Travis Knight :pacspit:
