Kobe was a better man to man defender than LeBron. LeBron is probably a better off ball defender. People need to stop lebron can defend every position narrative he can defend non scoring centers but he can't defend good centers or power forwards

Kobe wasn't a better defender than Lebron stop it...just stop it...stop....

Lebron was an Defensive Player of the Year runner up in his career. Kobe Bryant after Shaq left played defense when he wanted to....

Kobe Bryant: Team Selections Prove He's the Most Overrated Player in the NBA
Take Phil Jackson’s words:

“Kobe’s defense, to be accurate, has faltered in recent years, despite his presence on the league’s all-defensive team. The voters have been seduced by his remarkable athleticism and spectacular steals, but he hasn’t played sound, fundamental defense.

"Mesmerized by the ball, he’s gambled too frequently, putting us out of position, forcing rotations that leave a man wide open, and doesn’t keep his feet on the ground.”

False. Why is he better because he bites his jersey and gets in a pretty defensive stance and trash talks no nikka he is not watched both for years. Kobe was never a DPoY candidate. And he isn't "probably" a better off-ball defender he is without a doubt. He got All-Defense selections off namesake.

This thread is full of illogical rhetoric. Kobe was easily the most feared individual player in the game during his prime.

Garnett was a better player than Duncan but people don't give him credit because he didn't have the privelage of playing with Popovich.

True ballers know about Duncan

LeBron had more seasons in the DPoY conversation, could defend more positions, and make far more explosive defensive plays than Kobe ever could. How does LeBron not challenge himself defensively when he has been switched off to guards like MVP Rose and Tony Parker and locked them down, when just last year he was trusted to switch to DeRozan in 4Q's of the ECF, when LeBron effectively guarded PF's and some C's as a small ball PF in Miami, when his signature play requires him to run the length of the court and pin shots off the glass killing fast breaks.

You're talking about small samples

He will never defend an elite point guard for a whole game like Kobe

Bron didn't even want to defend KD this yr bc he knew he would get cooked

He can defend in spurts but he's not locking nobody down for a whole game like the Mamba, hence Kobe being all defense 11x

Lebron had 2 great defensive seasons in all honesty, after he had a chance to study Kobe's approach in the 08 Olympics

Kobe had about 8 great defensive seasons...when I say great, it's in the realm of being a superstar

Kobe never had to hide on defense like Bron

When did Kobe defend an elite PG for a whole game, I hope you not talking about Rondo. :mjlol:

LeBron at this stage conserves energy and usually guards guys like KD in the second half. That is nothing new, LBJ isn't the only player that has done that. Even the Bulls did it with MJ in the second 3-Peat when they had Harper and the Lakers with Artest.

Kobe doesn't have as many memorable defensive plays and lockdown performances like Kobe. Phil Jackson already ripped Kobe's defense and his All-Defensive team selections have been criticized for years. Kobe was never a DPoY candidate like LeBron in '09, '12, and '13 and the metrics have LeBron over Kobe as a defender by a good margin.

Derrick Rose was the best player in 2011 but Durant wasn't the best player in 2014 ?

:lupe:

D gawd swept the heat that year in the regular season, had a better record than the heat and was the only allstar on his team. KD, had russ and Ibaka, Bron had washed wade and faltering bosh and bron was shooting like 55% from the field. In 2011 him and wade had a power struggle and his numbers weren't up to par

I guess he didn't defend the prime Bibby's, prime CP3's, prime Rondo's, prime Westbrook's and prime AI's of the world

I clearly recall Ray Allen being locked down in game 7 of the finals

I clearly remember Kobe out rebounding

Out rebounding Paul, Ray & KG by himself

I clearly remember Kobe blocking 4 shots in the close out game 5 against Orlando

I clearly remember Kob putting clamps on prime AI

I clearly remember Kobe asking to defend the best players

Bron don't want to defend the KD's & Kawhi's of the world

That s why Melo cooked his overrated self

:mjlol: Prime AI had an entire season shooting under 40% and Kobe was assigned to Rondo in 2010, where the game plan was dare him to shoot from deep by backing off him by 6 feet :mjlol:. Kobe wasn't guarding prime Westbrook because he only began reaching his prime in 2014 when Kobe was in the stage of being washed and too injured to even play :dead:. Bibby made maybe one or two all star teams and maybe one all NBA team. Try harder. I'm sure his defensive metrics are out of this world against Paul too :rudy:. :deadrose: at LeBron getting cooked by Carmelo. You really believe that nonsense too I'm sure.
