so nobody was calling bron the best when he destroyed detroit in the 07 playoffs and then was leading the cavs to 60-win seasons with mo williams as his sidekick?![]()
Poster is right that almost no one would say that LeBron was better but that doesn't mean it wasn't true. I remember thinking how the Lakers would have been better if they could just trade Kobe for Bron straight up. Bron shot more efficiently, was a better passer and was a great defender. The only thing stopping him back then was his teammates and his head trash. I think he might have shrunk under the bright lights if he had faced Boston and Orlando in the finals where as Kobe (though he shot terribly) rose to the occasion when it mattered. But to me Bron was already a better player.
Lose played 20yrs, didn't win the title 75% did not make the playoffs 50%of the time. Longevity and consistency you say? Kobe been a cancer the last 25%of his career. Jordan at 40 on the wizards scored over 50 in back to back games, still looked like Jordan of old out there..I mean...you can make the argument there was always one or two guys who had better individual seasons than him, but he had more longevitiy and consistency and I think that means he's ahead of a lot of the people who had better seasons than him when making an all-time list

The misconception is Kobe mvp'd those 5seasons you are referring to. Reality is Lakers were not title contenders til Shaq And Phil got there. Once Shaq left, I believe they missed the playoffs. I remember Kobe flirting with going to Chicago. The Lakers then had to re up to be competitive again. Traded kwame for Pau Gasol, Got Lamar Odom for some ready rock, had a Shaq replacement (forgot his name but he was a beast for 2/3seasons) and with Phil at the helm they won two more.Im not saying he's ahead of Jordan but 5 rings is a decent run
yehI've never seen an all time great player lose as much as Kobe when the team isn't stacked. He should be able to carry his team's to the playoffs, Kobe often couldn't do that which is a red flag imo
