Its a terrible trade but its not even worse than the okc clippers trade
Talent wise no, but the fact that this trade just absolutely destroyed a fan base half a year after making it to the finals and when the franchise’s greatest player is showing to to Lakers games because the trade pissed him off, I’d give this the nod.

An incredibly dumb trade that we can already see changing the landscape and history of the NBA.

Guys like luka are one in a lifetime. You fire your whole front office and install his dad as coach if that's what it takes to make him happy

I am not trying to find excuses for Nico. What I am saying is that these franchise player trades definitely have to be OK'd by the ownership. No way they just gave him a green light to do whatever trade he wants. They probably bought into whatever BS Nico was telling them because somehow someway he's still employed. If I were the Mavs. I would have fired him next day after the trade.
Every trade of this magnitude has to be run by ownership. I don’t even know why this is being put forth as an argument.

They did buy into what Nico was telling them, because they’re completely clueless about hoops. The fact he’s still employed either suggests they’re still under his spell, or they’re saving face. They’re fighting on the lie of it being a worthwhile trade because if they were to just fire him as a knee jerk reaction, they’d essentially be admitting they made arguably the biggest mistake in modern NBA history.

With all that said, Nico’s on borrowed time (stumbling upon the #1 pick bought him a lil more).
If it was a unilateral decision, Nico woulda been fired after the fan blowback and drop in ticket sales. Why the fukk would billionaires protect Nico :mjlol: People are delusional.
If Nico was fired after the fan blowback, the dumbass owners would look even more stupid than they already do. They’re not protecting Nico, they’re protecting themselves from embarrassment.

Like I said to the other dude - they’re fighting on that lie. Once they deem it’s a complete lost cause, Nico will be out of there.

I wish some of y’all would think things through before running up in here acting like you know what you’re talking about.

Clippers didn't know SGA was going to be as good as he's become.

Luka was already an established generational player about to hit his prime. This trade is contender for the dumbest trade in NBA history.
Six months after a finals run, with no demand or even hinting that he was unhappy with the team other than when Nico fired his guys.

It was so bizarre that we all thought whoever reported it was hacked. Trading a generational player who just took your team to the Finals and was only 25 years old. It's fukking absurd. I can't stand the Lakers. This dumb shyt only happens to them.

For the people who think it's not the worst trade in NBA history. Ask yourself if the Mavs offered AD, Max Christie and a 1st for Luka today would the Lakers say yes. If the answer is no, then well:francis:

I know AD is hurt currently but for hypothetical reasons say he's healthy.

Why are people ignoring the fact that the trade was Luka for AD and the first pick in the draft 😂

Again, maybe you think it doesn’t change the calculus, but we shouldn’t delude ourselves into thinking Mavs lucked into the 1st pick.

You could throw Flagg into the mix and the Lakers would still say no.
