Could we agree that Nintendo is content about being 2nd place and providing a true secondary option for consoles. Since PS4, Microsoft and PC are competing for that number 1 spot in gaming. I think it's safe to say we will never see Nintendo compete on that power level ever again and that what there doing right now providing first party experiences and unique ip's is what they can do best. Providing something so different to stay the fukk away from the competition even if it means being underpowered.

I think settling for 2nd best is the best choice nintendo has made this generation :yeshrug:

I don't even think their content with 2nd place, seems they're ok with third place to me.

I don't think any company strives for second place. I think that for the past decade nintendo has been in their own lane. After the gamecube which was the last time a nintendo console was on par with the rest of the competition. They got lucky with the wii and since the gamecube flopped they've been trying to "innovate" since it worked well for them once.

TBH even if nintendo made a console on par with the the others would that do any better? The third party relation ships they've had are destroyed and I really don't see xbox or ps users to gravitate towards them when nintendo has the kiddie connotation tied to their name.
People say this a lot. I would definitely buy a Nintendo console if it was as powerful as PS4 and Xbox

They actually need to stop with the gimmicks and honestly take a look at what the consumer truly wants - and then just build it.
That's what they're trying to do, but the inertia in their company hierarchy makes it really difficult to get a proper handle on what's a trend and what's just a fad. They saw mobile blowing up (late) and incorrectly assessed it as a 'premium' marketplace where people actually buy things, because their higher-ups call the shots. Analysts and statistical data be damned.

This is why they still can't seem to figure out online play—their implementations are behind 2001-tier usability. No excuse for that shyt, but I'm thinking their lead developers and analysts and R&D are basically meant to kowtow to shareholders and the board of directors. If you thought US intracorporate politics are shytty, just wait until you meet Japanese and Korean businesses!

What difference does it make how powerful it is versus the actual software they're making? The Switch is powerful enough to be functional and is probably one of the more powerful portables made. Games like Mario and Zelda look good enough to me to play and not be bothered with. We're still above HD level graphics so I don't see the big deal. Notice nobody is really talking about the quality or fun factor of the games all they're talking about is how powerful the hardware is.

Because I would like to be able to play Nintendo exclusives and the big 3rd party games on the same console but Nintendo chooses not to compete

I think it's less about raw horsepower at this point and more about Nintendo squandering their creative talent pool on poorly realized gimmicks and outdated versions of crucial features that everyone else has already mastered.

I say this as someone who really digs their first-party stuff.

The reality is you can't do that and you'll likely never be able to. Still a Switch is $300. If Nintendo exclusives aren't worth $300 for a 4-5 year or maybe more investment to be able to play them then they aren't worth much to you at all. $300 over 5 years is a $60 a year cost to just own the console. Once that console is owned you can buy those exclusives whenever and if it isn't your only console then it doesn't matter as much if there are droughts.

If you actually like their games buy deny yourself the experience because you can't have everything in one place so you have nothing then that's your loss.

why do you continue to talk as if scorpio is a new console and not an xboxone-pro
Because it's a generational leap in tech. For a certain period of time Microsoft plans to support both but you can bet at some point in the not too distant future they're going to look at the Xbox One and feel like it's holding the Scorpio back and cut it loose.

none of that matters seeing as itll only play xbox one games. you're talking about what if's instead of what MS have actually announced.

ps4 pro is also a tech leap, so how is that different?

And that's what people are complaining about:gucci:

Why has Nintendo just given up? They are literally choosing to be a "secondary" console. That's some bytchass shyt:what:

The whole point is that I would prefer to spend $300-400 once
