NINTENDO NX PORTABLE COMING IN 2016 AND CONSOLE IN 2017, SAYS ANALYST

Portable to cost $200?
BY ALEX OSBORN Following yesterday's batch of NX rumors hinting at what Nintendo may have planned for its next console, additional information has surfaced by way of Macquarie Capital Securities in Japan.

According the firm's report (via Nintendo Life), Macquarie expects Nintendo to release NX as two separate units, with the portable element launching this November and its "console partner device" arriving in 2017.

The company also speculates the portable version will be priced around $200. No estimated price for the console unit was provided, but Macquarie believes the pair of devices may have some type of AR component as well.

It's worth noting this report is also the source of yesterday's rumor that NX may work with smartphones, PCs and competing consoles, as the firm's Head of Research David Gibson provided the information to The Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki. We've reached out to Gibson for comment and will provide an update when we receive a response.

It's important to note this information is strictly analyst speculation, so take these reports with a grain of salt, as Nintendo has yet to announce any specific details on NX. It won't be long before we get official details from Nintendo, however, as company president Tatsumi Kimishima just recently reaffirmed that we'll hear more about the mysterious console later this year.

Yo, if the NX console could be like how the Gamecube was but modernized and advanced for today, it'd be exactly what Nintendo needs to have an actually decent console hardware wise. Make it at least on par with the damn Xbox 1 or PS4.

  • Non gimmicky control scheme. Either a standard controller with something useful or new. As long as it isn't too expensive and won't drive up the cost
  • Modernized online and features. They seem to have been working on that with the recently revealed Nintendo account system thing they were showing late last year.
  • 1495298883064519345.png
That along with system wide features like chat, messaging and sharing options to satisfy the social crowd.
  • Hardware that can hang in the current gen nicely. It doesn't have to be more powerful than the PS4 but something similar or better than the Xbox 1.
  • The shared library thing they talked about would solve the software drought period.
"To cite a specific case, Apple is able to release smart devices with various form factors one after another because there is one way of programming adopted by all platforms. Apple has a common platform called iOS. Another example is Android. Though there are various models, Android does not face software shortages because there is one common way of programming on the Android platform that works with various models."
Certainly from a development standpoint there is some challenge to it, because if you have two devices that have different specs and you're being told to design in a way that the game runs on both devices, then that can be challenging for the developer—but if you have a more unified development environment and you're able to make one game that runs on both systems instead of having to make a game for each system, that's an area of opportunity for us."

"Still, I am not sure if the form factor (the size and configuration of the hardware) will be integrated. In contrast, the number of form factors might increase. Currently, we can only provide two form factors because if we had three or four different architectures, we would face serious shortages of software on every platform. To cite a specific case, Apple is able to release smart devices with various form factors one after another because there is one way of programming adopted by all platforms. Apple has a common platform called iOS. Another example is Android. Though there are various models, Android does not face software shortages because there is one common way of programming on the Android platform that works with various models. The point is, Nintendo platforms should be like those two examples. Whether we will ultimately need just one device will be determined by what consumers demand in the future, and that is not something we know at the moment. However, we are hoping to change and correct the situation in which we develop games for different platforms individually and sometimes disappoint consumers with game shortages as we attempt to move from one platform to another, and we believe that we will be able to deliver tangible results in the future."

Aaaaaand my original point arises again. Look at you listed that they are lacking and look how long they have been lacking these things. If they don't change, which they haven't shown that they will, they deserve to be put out of their misery and sent to the bushes along with Uncharted 4.

i really don't understand this obsession with 3rd party games for nintendo...when they got Bayonetta (one of the best action/adventure games recently) ppl still passed on the wii-u. you don't buy nintendo consoles for 3rd party (sony and microsoft is there for that) you buy it for the mario, zelda, donkey kong, pokemon and what not.

I generally buy one console each "generation" and am waiting on the NX to be out for awhile before considering either a NX or PS4. I am not a huge gamer who has to have every game that comes out. However I would like to have access to Nintendo's undeniable games while also being able to play fighting games and sports games. The NX has to have atleast Wii level third party support otherwise I'll just get a PS4, but then I'll miss out on Pokemon and Mario.

Well certainly what I posted is they're own things they've shown they are aiming to do with the NX hence the optimism. I'm not making these things up, these are quotes from Nintendo themselves about the NX. A moderately powerful console, modernized and streamlined online, more convenient development allowing games on the handheld and console to be ported effortlessly would solve a lot of problems "core" games have. Hell, if the NX theoretically had the software library of a typical Nintendo handheld AND console, they could sustain themselves with just their titles and it'd still be worth it.

I always felt like they released some dope ass games but only for the 3DS which annoyed me as some I felt deserved to be on the Wii U. The shared library or w/e they were talking about would make it so that nikkas would have Pokemon on the handheld and that same game would have a console port which would be dope.

and the only bushes that will be related to UC4 are the bushes Drake gonna throwing nikkas into.

Because my experience with the Wii, The Ds, the 3DS, and the WiiU wasn't enough to be extra cautious of Nintendo in 2016 right? :martin::camby:

Lets keep it 100. Nintendo has not shown that they are interested at all in competing hardware wise with ANYONE. Software outside of their first party games is typically :trash:. You boys are getting excited simply because it's new without even taking into account this company's track record of playing the back ground. Ain't the PS4 keeping you fed? What are you looking for ANY new consoles for?
Right. I got the Wii U after not having a Nintendo system since the NES. After fukking with the Wii U I'm completely done with Nintendo. I will never buy a Nintendo console ever again.
Can you believe the fukking Wii U does not have a built in Ethernet adapter??? That shyt was the last straw for me. They're selling a USB to ethernet adapter for $25! fukk Nintendo. They can go out of business for all I care.

Nintendo has been getting a pass for way too long from the 25 year old + crowd. No real online strategy, no respectable third party support, even their flagship first party games come out with way too much time between each title. WiiU has been out for how long without a WiiU exclusive Zelda game? Where Metroid? Their controllers are a complete joke. I'm just as nostalgic as the next guy but I'm not immune to reality. Nintendo needs the casket lid dropped on it.
I think the real reason I bought a Wii U is because I have a two year old son and I wanted him to experience the same thing I experienced with the NES. That was over 25 years ago though. For what it's worth I shouldn't even be mad at the piece of shyt the the Wii U is. After all, I bought it for my toddler son and not for me. The Wii U is barely adequate for anyone over 12 years old.

Breh I know we agree on this. You are just being more defensive about this then you should be. Don't discredit my list. You know how that goes, I can't possibly remember every single detail, but you get my point. The drought is real and that's the point. You take the drought, plus the whack hardware and whack online functionality and you get a console that can easily be skipped. Breh, these are the people that gave me Metal Gear :mjcry:.... Metal Gear.... If anyone doesn't want to see it go down like this is me. But I've seen this company take L after L and it's time for them to bounce IMO. You'll have to excuse me if Im not :mj::stylin::ooh: for Nintendo anymore. I'm not coming from a stan POV. There's hard facts to why I feel the way I feel.
This man is telling some harsh truths that need to be heard.

What I don't get is people complaining about 3rd party support on a Nintendo system. Everyone knows you buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games. That's it. Nintendo's first party games ARE THAT STRONG that they worth a system on their own.

No one cares about Madden CoD GTA and Assassins Creed on a Nintendo system :scust:
