i still think when the Mario (proper and Kart), when the Zelda, when the Smash Bros hit the sales are gonna pick up.

So gamers are going to flock to WiiU for the same franchises they've been playing for decades instead of dropping that bread on PS4/720 shyt?

Want proof look at the Wii's best selling games. Look at the 3DS turn around and see what lead the way. Look at what gamers are playing on other systems. Call of Duty has like 8+ games in the series since it be came super popular. 6 games in the Halo series. Most consoles get one proper Mario or Zelda so yeah they been released for decades but there have been like 8 proper Marios since the 1985 to 2013 Call of Duty has that many games since 2005 to 2013.

Eh...it's not doing as well as the DS did around the same time, the way I see it..the games are still lacking (or games I'm actually interested, anyway)..around this time during the DS, I already had a nice collection building up...3DS...not so much, unless you count all the bullshyt VC games my ass rebought
in terms of actual sales last a knew the 3DS was outpacing the DS at the comparable points in their lives.

and what games did those fans choose to buy in very large numbers? the main titles in the franchises they've been playing for decades. understand that every single game on the list of the top ten selling video games of all time is a Nintendo game. Not one of the most popular selling franchises of their competitors (Call of Duty, Halo, Gears, Grand Theft Auto ect) cracks that list because in order to sit at that table you had to sell 26 million+ of a single title.

their portfolio may not appeal to you but don't think it doesn't appeal to the general public. don't think the minds at Nintendo can't create something the masses still wanna play.

Nintendo should just evolve and let us eat Mario and Zelda like rom type of games on an emulator with a PS3 controller. Instead of a shytty hardware and software to go with it.

It's funny, people have been saying 2 main things about wii u since it launched

1. It's difficult to show/explain, its something you need to play to understand

2. Where are the games?

So instead if a large presentation showing and explaining the wii u they are focusing on having people play the upcoming games and shifting focus on getting games out. How is this a bad thing?

you explain it to the masses in a big press conference as to why you should spend $300+ on one. Show off 3-4 demos of AAA first party exclusives and keep it moving.

I'll tell you what you DON'T do tho:
Stick it in a corner and expect people to flock to it when you got sony and microsoft coming in swinging with better hardware. The Wii U is not selling well, people have no faith in the system so Nintendo thinking that they can just "show up" and expect people to flock to it during THIS e3 is ridiculous. Nintendo Direct is not the answer either.

Do you realize that Nintendo is basically turning away 1000+ websites that cover these things during the events and they really expect a bulk of those visitors to watch Nintendo Direct?

the Gamecube and Xbox finished neck and neck and the Gamecube was considered a failure of Nintendo systems but it turned a profit from day 1 onward.

they're doing no such thing. they're going to be at E3 and have a presence on the floor and demo games. you act like since they aren't going to do an awkward press conference before the show starts where people march out and say what they've been working on that means they're skipping E3.

i keep trying to tell yall E3 press conferences are a joke. its gotten to the point where if someone has something major to announce they hold their own press event for it outside of E3. which is why in 20 something odd days Microsoft is holding their own press event for the new Xbox instead of just waiting the few more weeks till E3 to do it.

and honestly let's be real about it Nintendo press conferences sucked at E3 anyway. i can't even recall the last good one.

in fact if you look at Nintendo's statment they actually say they're going to hold smaller scale focused press events just not a huge spectral of a press conference they used to.
First, we decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past.
Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media.

You need to hit people over the head with the product you want to sell. You do that with big conferences that everyone watches and the news reports on. You dont do it with small side demonstrations that people have to go out of their way to find info about. Nintendo needs to create some enthusiasm about their machine and a big conference is an easy way to do it.

Nintendo needed more of this

because we all want live music performances at press events dedicated to video games.

yeah E3 is becoming a joke.
