The Switch is loaded with JRPG's, not so much western RPG's if you are picky about the art style.
Dragon Quest 11 s, Octopath Traveler, and Bravely Default 2(which comes out later this year) all are turn-based.
You also have Fire Emblem Three Houses which is a turn-based strategy and Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 (The first's remake is coming out next week) are real-time action RPG.
Plus if you haven't played YS 8, Tales of Vesperia and all of the Final Fantasy games from 7-12 are available.
Now granted it also depends on what type of RPG you are interested in as well. Also while technically not an RPG, but Breath of Wild is a must-own if you have a Switch.

I bought a Switch lite, came home with it, unboxed it, downloaded a few games and launched Sonic Mania. Within a few minutes I chuckled and said I don't need this. FASTEST I've ever had buyer's remorse. I literally so no point to this shyt. D-pad is mushy and it just feels pointless as I don't have any issues with the regular Switch. I only thought the color looked nice. Lmao. I'm selling this shyt right back.Edit:Not even an hour later and it's already sold on Ebay for $205

^^^ ya I returned it the first time I bought it (gray)...copped a 2nd one (turquoise) for a trip I took...it came in handy and I felt more comfortable bringing that on vacation vs my regular switch...but I haven’t used it @ all since that trip and w/ this covid shyt I’m not traveling anytime soon so it’s just collecting dust...I look @ it as an added “convenience” but there really is no “need” for it if you already have a switch

I bushed this shyt game within 5 seconds. While it is a interesting platformer, the mechanics are all over the damn place. I hate these "flash 90 percent off
" deals because 9 times out of 10 it's a penny for a reason. No different from a mobile game being on the E Shop costing like 50 cents marked down from 24.99, when in reality the mobile game is free on google play
Nintendo needs regulation on their store because the legit deals are getting buried by garbage ass games
On another note, I swear the Switch made me appreciate the hell out of RPGs when I could care less about the genre. I'm over here playing Digimon Cyber Sleuth and I never seen the series in my life. Ninty really hit the ball out of the park with this system man. Like this is the best of every world if you are a gamer, especially a handheld preferred gamer like Ace

I use dekudeals and eshop-prices to keep track of the real deals. Like you said, the eshop is as bad as the Play Store/App Store with all the shovelware that is being spammed on it. I don't even check the eshop for deals anymore.

Dekudeals been my go to next to Nintendo Switch Deals subreddit. Beyond that
.E Shop needs a huge overhaul along with the Switch UI. It just seems soulless compared to the Wii, Wii U, and even the 3DS. It's missing that vintage Nintendo feel.
My Switch bundle from GameStop is arriving on Wednesday. It comes with the console, pro controller, screen protector, and Breath of The Wild.

if you aren't really gonna carry it around, i think you got all necessary accessories covered...other than an SD card.
