the internet
this is no different than any "purist" argument that goes on in all types of music.
the talent hates the critics and say critics dont matter etc...

nothing to see here.

Everywhere...You never there.
And frankly he owes part of the position he is in,and the relationships he has,and his name recognition to being on a major first...

Eh...maybe. But a lot of niccas didn't know he was on a major. Nicca caught fire on the net. First found out about him years ago on SOHH from an LA nicca. Had no idea about his previous label deal(s).

When I tell niccas about him now, they don't know a thing about his past labels. They just listen off the strength.

lol @ this smart dumb nikka tryna turn his image into some corny fake lupe fiasco type anti-establishment bullshyt

He's been really anti-establishment for at least the past 3 tapes. Do you listen or just skim?

This is sort of old news, but were you really close to joining Maybach Music?

Me and Rick Ross sat down and talked and he made it clear that he can make the deal that I need. And I told him that I don’t need money, I need a partnership. I needed a marketing machine and I needed international distribution for my product. Ross fought tooth and nail to make that happen for me. I respect him and salute him for that; but then we ran into the corporate structure of these companies. And again, it offended me, because here you have one of the most powerful, respected nikkas in the game about to make a power move that’s going to incite the culture and they want us to be the ones that compromise. They should be the ones to compromise for the culture so this thing can happen. We’re not supposed to compromise and that’s what they said. They said, “Just be happy with the hood and happy with the fame of it and how it’s gonna make it look. It’s gonna be big. You’re gonna be the biggest nikka out of the West,” and all this other shyt. Sell that to a ho, my nikka. I’m a man.

:ooh::pachaha: This nikka Nip.

Everything he said in the interview he said on songs on the Crenshaw tape, and he's said before. And some niccas wonder why we fukk with him... :smh:

I might spend that $100 on that mixtape... :lupe:

Proud 2 Pay.

"I took offense to, not only Complex’s stance, but the major labels’ stance on how they treat artists, how they treat the culture. And I felt like we’re at a point where our culture’s getting exploited and it’s looking like they’re trying to do us like they did rock 'n' roll. They’re trying to do us like they did Africa, and they’re trying to extract all of our natural resources for their own exploited reasons. If Complex is going to take the stance to degrade the culture and point out every flaw that hip-hop artists have and every mistake they make, then I’ma take the stance to say: As hip-hop, we’re gonna boycott Complex. We don’t need that. We can write about ourselves. We could develop our own outlet and we can cover our own stories. It’s like “No thank you. We don’t need y’all opinion no more.” And that’s why I said what I said."

:salute:

Powerful.

I respect this dude for speaking from the heart, and he seems intelligent. Hes clearly salty though :yeshrug:
If hes able to express himself artistically, make music that "real nikkas" connect with and is getting paid doing it... then why is he wrapped up in what Complex thinks about his music?

Because you gotta know when to strategically play the game, too. You can't ever escape the game when you're a recording artist who's in it to make money as well as quality music...He's always gonna be embedded in it. And I don't think he's trying to escape it...just play it on his own terms as much as possible.

Yeah now,but I'm sure some people started fukking with him due to the hype and push he got by being on a major as well, having his video on bet and mtv, magazine covers and spreads. And name recognition means a lot far as people even giving your shyt a chance. Nipsey got SOME of that by that affiliation. If you can keep em it doesn't matter how you got em but it has to be noted.

He didn't get it all purely from independence and rallying against the machine. I just don't know if its realistic the way its setup for alotta nikkas to have that luxury either. If everybody could get on the same page and have his same mindset though:ohlawd: I'm hopin T.I does something different now that he's not on a major but coming o a succesful album,it would be cool to see somebody at his level try it in this era...I liked what david Banner was doing to,and I think he even reached his goal.

" I think that Jay understands the truth and he understands life like I probably understand life. In 2013, nikkas is fools for signing with other rappers. nikkas is fukking clowns for signing these 360 deals. You can quote me on that."
