While I'm for financial discipline, it would be erroneous to think that just lacking FD is the cause of the financial situation of inflation combined with historical low wages for the working poor.
That and debt in general such as car payments. The #1 thing people need to do is rid themselves of credit card debt. That's how people get buried.

Budgeting and cutting back expenses is literally the solution to allocating money towards necessities
People don't want to come to grips with that. Once upon a time I was able to save $25K while making less than $40k (in a couple of years). It's math, what you do with it is up to you![]()
I try to live off of 43k( I make way more) and it’s a struggleDidn't someone post a thread saying the average black household makes 45k a year?
I can imagine someone making that much is either struggling to stay afloat or starting to get into debt.
Even if they can pay bills now, they need to account for the cost of living increasing in the future.
yep I remember that. You’re a few years older than me and I remember you graduating, getting your first real job, but working at McDonald’s on the weekend for some extra income. I always thought of that and ended up doing something similar once I finished my degree. My mental health? Like years ago? lol.
I have a therapist and I read a lot and I prioritize exercise to keep my mental straight. I do not smoke and I barely drink anymore unless it’s a special occasion because I know my mental health is the priority.
I have always worked multiple jobs up until I was 25 which is well documented on this website and on the previous website (sohh and projectcovo). Are used to work at McDonald’s as a college graduate in people at my full-time job would feel sorry for me and think I was poor but I was really didn’t want to save extra money because I had goals.
I hear you but people need an exit plan.People shouldn’t have to work 14 hours a day just to make it though
I went to the grocery store today and wasbut standing at the checkout, I was like do I really need cashews, La Croix soda etc etc. I could dial it back, but there are luxuries people feel they need when it isn't really necessary.

If you’re working two jobs. You have to be able save something. Also sacrificing is everything man. When I was down bad, I saved damn near every penny I had until I saved 7k. Then I knew I could breathe a bit but not take my foot off the pedal.
Wow that’s great to hear bro. Really just made my dayI try to live off of 43k( I make way more) and it’s a struggle

My first job out of college paid me 40k, so I worked a couple other gigs to bring my income up to 70k. It was a grind but it was something I had to do and knew I could only do while I was young. This also motivated me to look for higher paying jobs and how to get there. Tbh just last night I was thinking of getting another side job just for the weekend for a few hours.
Hell I’d be open to even washing dishes for a few hours. Don’t care what anyone thinks as long as my bank account is straight.
I’m just going work on another wfh job first. Found some pointers last night
Also i don’t work hard to blow my money either. I want to make more money to increase my savings and investments. The quicker I can reach 100k investment the quicker that shyt will double.
And then after that then they should aim to get a higher paying job or take some online classes or something. There are ways to get paid out here. And a lot of them will be right back to check to check status once they switch back to one job
Switching companies can easily net you 10-15% more.Do you think you can make more money? If so what ways are you going go about making more?
