The Devil's Advocate
Call me Dad
somebody gets itmALTA, you see what i'm saying? people do not listen. It's like people like to set themselves up to be pissed off.
how many times have the devs said this? you aint finding ya homies. if by chance you do it will be extremely rare.
it will be about as rare as it will be for humans on earth in real life to run into aliens that can walk and talk.
i would say this. the truth is, i see a lot of yall dont understand what this game really is. you keep trying to attribute it to this game or that game. you dont have to do that. just look at it on its own merits. no need to compare.
They are doing something that has never been done before on this scale. that alone is enough to get my $$> not some of yours and thats fine. but i would say this.. there are times in gaming where when a huge leap is made. You have to be apart of that just to be in the front row when it happens. Even if this game had zero gameplay and was 100% exploration and nothing else. It would still be mind blowing that its this large with this much variety. It is a video game version of our current universe, almost to scale. obviously its not to scale. but it aint as far off as other games would be. that alone is insane.
sure its minecraftish, sure its elite dangerousish, sure its sporeish,. etc, etc, etc. but non of those games have created an actual UNIVERSE. i'm not sure if any game has created a true to life day and night cycle. not just a visual affect. but a real life rotating planet, in orbit around a star. this game has done that. i still remembering thse hello game nuts saying they thought it was a glitch in the game when they were testing it. because they would fly into a planet from a spacestation. mess around on the world for a while. and then fly out. and the spacestation would be gone. then they would find it further along. someone finally reminded them. "the planet is rotating on its axis like the earth rotates in real life. so wherever you flew in. and hung around will be further around the rotation. so when you leave. the spacestation is still in that spot in space. but your world has turned so much you are flying out ending up on the opposite side. that alone is mindblowing from a gaming perspective. we have never seen anything like that before. the little things people, the little things. and to think this game isnt even trying to be ultra realistic. but to add something like that is next level.
Weren't we all complaining and crying about this gen kind of being wack since we are not seeing super groundbreaking games just yet. some of them have elements. but for the most part we havent seen a game where we could say OK... Thats next gen. not just because it looks cute 1080p 60fps. but things the game does.
this is a space nerd game.... others need not apply
it's not the best looking game... it doesn't have the best story... it's not detail oriented or ill weapons or amazing cutscenes or blah blah blah
it's a game about exploring the universe and seeing what you can find... it's interstellar the video game
That's all fine and dandy....but what you're essentially describing is a tech demo. So the planets rotate and it's not where you thought it would be. But what is your purpose in the game? Is it simply to witness the expansiveness of the universe? I feel that a lot of people will be disappointed and for good reason if that's the case. That's just so much wasted potential. I get that you can mine things, and explore. But if there are things to mine, and things to trade, then that hints at an economy. If there is an economy, there has to be some sort of political system backing it. If there is a political system, then there is a society somewhere. Did I just miss all the videos where ole buddy explained all that and how those things mesh together? Or do I have to spend 60 bucks before the "secrets" are revealed to me?
Da fukk is this, a game made by Scientologists?
the point of the game is to reach the middle of the universe... i'm sure this will take the right craft, the right weapons, the right connections, etc etc
but that's the end goal of the game.... like gta.. if you just want to fukk around for 40 hours.... you sure can.... but there's also a direct end to this game
