Yeah, that would be something that this game isn't.
But of course, I want this game for what it actually is.
This is the non-sharing non-people non-multiplayer non-steam-turd game that I've been personally wanting for the last 20 years.
Everything doesn't need to involve others.
Real life doesn't have someone holding your hand 24-7.

You point is essentially "Although multiplayer would not effect the game for me or anyone like me in any way whatsoever i dont want it to have multiplayer because i dont want other people to play the game differently from me".

Thats asinine.

No, that's not my point sir...lol.
My point is that I'm merrily content in the design the game was created with/for.
I am sorry for the design of the game causing you such an inconvenience.
As stated by others, I'm sure they'll patch in a group multiplayer later on down the line.
But they're shipping it with the original design and for those of us that were in it for the original design...we are pleased.

of course it would affect us, since the game would be further delayed. that's assuming incorporating multiplayer is even possible

and making multiplayer possible can affect singleplayer. I'm playing Starbound now, a game designed from the ground up to be played SP or co-op, and one thing that annoys me is you can't even pause the game when playing solo. the reason for that is probably that the co-op clients need to stay synchronized

being able to pause the game, and do things at my own pace, is one of the main reasons I prefer singleplayer games these daze

good points. now there's another reason you may not be able to pause the game or i should say. you can fake pause it. meaning the gray overlay screen will show up. but the game itself never stops. thats because some of these online games are LIVE and never go to sleep type of games. It's a living breathing universe. so you cant PAUSE IT like if the game was single player off line just for you and you only. i'm not sure if thats what it is for your game you're talking about. but it could be. it will be the same for NMS online. offline you probably can pause it. but you will lose the benefits of being online and knowing what other people are doing out there.

I don't think real life on a planet with 7 billion people is what you want to reference when railing against multiplayer. LMAO. C'mon now.

@rapbeats all of that is cool but where it loses people is that nobody else will see the cool thing you just saw. I dont care how awesome a creature, planet, space ship, etc.....you saw is if i cant see it myself. I could get the game and make up all types of lies about what i saw on a planet and nobody other than the developers would know im making shyt up.
well my friend that will no longer be the case at all. Just like ole boy says in the video. This day zero update is by far the best patch update notes I've ever seen in any game. This is why I put my money with Hello Games. Because I could tell unlike some other companies. They were not trying to lie to you about what the game could or could not do. In addition they always left it open to be updated based on players requests. Even if those requests were not the original games intent(base building/multiplayer). This is how games should be made. for the people.

Gonna wait til September on PC.
By then the truth will be known and I'll either pass or buy.
lol. the truth is known right now. all types of people are streaming the game on ps4. you can see whatever you need to see and make a decision. remember just like any game. don't base it on their style of play or lack thereof. base on what you think you could do in similar situations. don't wait for reviews. man up and go watch the streams yourself and make your OWN decision.

This game is exactly what I knew it would be. It's aimless and manages to be both huge and shallow at the same time. No @rapbeats I will not give a full on in depth review of the game. But I did want to point this out as an example of Sean Murray's dodginess that I was hitting on before.

They key in on it in this video. And it has been happening. I'm not dropping this here in hopes for you to dislike the game. I couldn't care less what you're feelings are on it. If you like that shyt, then play it until your hands hurt. The video is simply to show that no one was in here making shyt up.

i'm loving the game @The Phoenix
nothing aimless about exploring stuff for cash as well as the visual effects. nothing wrong with finding new creatures feeding them and getting them to pump out rare materials from time to time or do other things for you. nothing wrong with finding all of the animals on a planet and being rewarded via cash(units) for it. aint nothing wrong with roaming around looking for better exosuits with more slots for more stuff so you can make more money and combine more elements to upgrade your suit, weapon, and ship.

you use this word. I didnt'

aim·less

  1. without purpose or direction:
Can't call it aimless when there's a legit purpose to everything you do in the game.

Let me explain to you what the game does to you mindstate.

I was on my home planet for 2 days. 2 days. I had no plans of staying that long. but I ended up on a planet that was showed in one of the trailers. it was hot there but it was bearable and the planet had a TON of resources. This is why I stayed so long. everytime I thought about hoppng in my ship and flying into space, i ran into yet another mineral where I could cash it in and ball out. or create something else out of it. it was like they put me on Africa or something. I got lucky. i'm also playing on pc so I was late to the party since they dropped the pc version a few days later.

I pre-ordered so I have the upgraded ship as well as the upgraded multi-tool.

but again, t game messes with your mind. you fly your ship to some waypoint or interesting spot. then you see something else 2 mins or so away. you don't know what it is until you get there. then after you've finished with that area. you start walking back towards your ship and then you see a cav. "ooo..whats in there?..naw I should get back to my ship. dang its getting hot out here. suit wearing thin real quick. I think need to hit that cav for a second just to cool down and recharge my shield. well since i'm here. let me look around and see whats down here. yeahhhhh it's Gold down here. loving it. easy money. lots of it too. ... my energy is going down what da hell... ayyy...what's hitting me.. some spider like creature. small but lethal. let me shoot it right quick. ooo I got some resources. let me scan him too. oooooo he's one of 8 animals I need to get 250k units. **
the entire time. I've walked 2 more mins away from my ship under ground. I come out the cave on the other side. now I see more points of interests. I see another monolith and learn some more words or get something valuable. or eff up and take the L choosing the wrong thing since I don't speak GEK yet.

Let me get back to my ship so I can fly over to the spot that's 20mins away. I want to get to a trade outpost. meet an alien or two. I finally hop in. fly over. while i'm flying I see something else. whats this pod thingy. oooo I get a new suit upgrade. but its going to cost me 50k or so. another slot. great I just ran out of slots. I needed that slot so now I can use that slot to craft a chip so I can see whats going on at this next waypoint. to see even more of the planet's places of interest.

you are constantly doing this wanting to just get back to the ship and hit some main spots and you get caught up in other areas doing other things. mess around and find yourself 15 mins away from your ship. and its a literal 15 mins away.

I finally decided to head to space. and I have one more animal to find to complete the task to get 200units from my home original planet. but I couldn't find it. and while in space i'm still mad about it. thinking about going back again. this is what this game does to you. you are always torn. should I keep walking while my shield is depleting? should I check that out? should I just leave. but what if I leave now and I miss something.

and I haven't even got on the limited slots issue. wow. that is crazy how you have to always made crucial decisions without having full knowledge of if its right or wrong. when choosing what to just let go of, sell off right now for a little bit of cash or keep later to earn big money or to do something with it to help your suit, ship, or multi tool. you have no idea in a lot of situations so you're guessing until further notice.

I finally hit the space station. and realized some of the stuff I had on me was not worth just a few % more but it was worth 100 times what they were trying to give me on the planet. who knew?

now that has me thinking "should I go back down there to get some more and get paid?" nawww I want to travel now. get up off that planet. then the ships start rolling into the space station. now i'm trying to see what these ships lookin like. some have a ton of slots. a lot more than my little starter upgrade ship. but I can't afford them to expensive. then I remember. there were signals of crashed ships back on that planet. here we go again. should I go back? I aint going back... I fly to a near moon. acid rain. some water to dive into. but... I don't have that suit extra so I cant breath under water for long. right before I come up for air. I see an underwater cave. can't see its end. I go in there. remember i'm running out of oxygen. decisions decisions. can't do it. gotta come up for air. can't even go in there until I get that upgrade to the suit. cause if I get down there without it. no telling how far that cave goes then what? i'm dead with no save point. and this planet is green and crazy looking. all kinds of weird creatures. at least on that hot starter planet. the animals looked kinda like animals with a twist. these new ones on this moon look unreal.

and for the record when sean murray said planet sized planets. he wasn't lying. the planet I was on was HUUUUUUUGE.
