No Vote Brehs: What is it exactly that not voting gets you again?

I'd say disillusionment with the whole political system in this country. Feeling like your vote didn't matter. Feeling like you were used and lied to. Being shamed and blamed for certain candidates winning, despite doing your part and voting against them. Being shamed and blamed for the number of black voters, despite being outnumbered by default.

Threads like this are probably a reminder of why they chose this path. A lot of finger pointing and talking down, but very little critical thinking. What happened in Louisiana sucks, but what does that have to do with a brother who never stepped foot in that state? He did his thing elsewhere and still catches strays. It shouldn't be a surprise that someone on the sidelines is seeing that and falling back.

Black voter turnout is abysmally low in places like Louisiana and Mississipi and they have some of the lowest quality of living standards in the country. White Republicans dominate those states and black people have virtually no power.

When is not voting effective in theory and practice? Please tell me.

You can vote at 1000000% every election, but it means absolutely nothing if your follow up game is lacking. In other words, you're still "no vote gang" even if you do vote and don't participate in the things necessary in between election cycles.

this "don't vote" strategy ignores the fact that every other minority group and special interest are not standing still. they're all making moves and by the time you decide to do something you'll be way behind in political power. now instead of negotiating politically with a majority white congress, you 'll do so with white, latino and an asian congress which will likely leave your ambitions dead in the water. democrats in Wisconsin just got 51% of the vote but only 30% of democrats are elected officials, thats because of gerrymandering and the GOP setting it up so that no matter what they'll never lose power thru an election. this "don't vote" strategy will end up helping the GOP build that kind of election stealing apparatus nationwide.

Congress can't simply get rid of something that requires a constitutional ammendment like the electoral college

for that to happen, you will need two thirds of the 50 states to ratify it which will never happen since there's no way red and even some purple states will ever support it

It's the same reason it's virtually impossible to ban guns in America

Racists whites worked really hard so others couldn't vote, put up laws and tests to prohibit it from happening, when those all fell, they needed another way.
