Racists whites worked really hard so others couldn't vote, put up laws and tests to prohibit it from happening, when those all fell, they needed another way.

Gerrymander districts, make it difficult to actually cast a ballot, keep repeating its rigged, crooked, doesn't matter. People will take themselves off the voting register themselves.

Looking at the history of this country and how much struggle it took for black people to even vote, it seems like a complete waste not to go out there and vote. But then again, one of the freedoms in this country is the freedom to choose if you want to do something or not.
