Notice how 40 says it. He says it like it's "Hip Hop Law". The reason Drake is in this situation is his arrogant Bars. He loved to tell everyone else why he was the greatest and why they weren't only his level:
"The Throne is for the taken, watch me take it"
"Last Name Ever, First Name Greatest"
"Everything is Drake featuring Drake"
"Maybe I'll help ya'll off the shelf"
Etc, Also even if many of us never had Drake as a Top Emcee, you can't deny there was a media push to put him as a GOAT. The Sprite Billboard/Ad was an example. A few of us even said he's really the Ja Rule/50/T.I./Ludacris teir of Emcee but I honestly can't put him over any of those guys. Also let me remind you of someone:
You'd have no credibility whatsoever, and you'd be out of the window immediately." - Noah 40
In 1990 Vanilla Ice as the biggest rapper in the game. His album was approaching Diamond Status He had the Biggest song in Hip Hop History at the time with "Ice, Ice, Baby" as Rap's 1st #1 Hit. He was getting all the awards and all the props. The Media was saying he changed Hip Hop. Then guess what happen? People found out he had ghostwriters once Queen and David Bowie took him to court over the sample. In the Lawsuit it was discovered that Vanilla Ice didn't write his rhymes. People also found out he lied about his upbringing. He was immediately BANISHED From Hip Hop. Cause Vanilla Ice was fronting about this bars and got caught.
Now I won't call Drake Vanilla Ice but he was fronting about his Bars. The debate never was "Are there Ghostwriters", people kept moving the goal post trying to change the points we were making. Biggie has a Lil Kim and 2 Junior Mafia Reference Tapes. We all know NaS wrote for Foxy and Will Smith. Jay wrote for Foxy and Memphis Bleek. JD wrote for Kris Kross and Bow Wow. Plenty of rappers have wrote bars for other people. That was never the debate.. But none of those rappers claimed "King" or "Best" or "#1 in the game".
They all pretty much stayed humble. Lil Kim didn't get on her GOAT talk until after Biggie died. The Producers with Ghostwriters were a known fact. KanYe calls himself the GOAT ARTIST not the GOAT Emcee, there's a difference. Puffy, Dre and Timbaland never called themselves the best Lyricist. Eazy E never called himself the King. Drake own bars are why he's here. Also Drake had a "No-Name" Ghostwriter nobody had heard of where as the others had established writers. So it was like not only aren't you writing your rhymes but it's from an underground cat out of ATL.
