A Jay-Z album for me is the musical equivalent of a simple popcorn Hollywood blockbuster movie. A lot of action, but nothing lasting. It's the same for a lot of rappers now such as Wayne, Meek Mill, Ross, 50 Cent etc.

Then theres the likes of Kanye, Eminem, Lupe who aren't making typical blockbusters, and are in other ways still trying really hard to differentiate themselves, but they just don't have it in them to make good music anymore.

Then there's the likes of Cole, Drake, Wale who don't have enough overall talent or quality to make good albums.

Which leaves Nas and Kendrick Lamar. Somehow, they put out material that is intriguing, interesting, entertaining and thoughtful.

Like, Hall Of Fame is a top 10 major release for this year brehs. I'm not even talking sales. MCHG is like the 2nd best album to come out, and its easily at the bottom, if not Jay's worst album outside of KC

I was with you till this point.... Cole and Wale made good albums this year, hell even Mac Miller made a solid effort. Kendrick isn't heads and shoulders above this class ...stop it

Kanye has it in him so does Eminem. You only get the best of Em when his life is in complete turmoil and going through chaos, you only get the best of Kanye when everything is running okay in his life. Lupe just needs to hop off this anti-establishment wave

both, Kanye and Jay-Z have the most loyal and worst fans in all of hip hop. Kanye fans alone are the worst in all of music.

don't know if this thread is serious or not, but whatever...I disagree, I highly enjoy both albums...wont call them classic cause they both just came out...think yeezus has a shot at becoming one though...

think reasons people call them disappointing/mediocre are: cause jay and ye didn't make the album they wanted...they just don't like jay/ye music...

don't know if this thread is serious or not, but whatever...I disagree, I highly enjoy both albums...wont call them classic cause they both just came out...think yeezus has a shot at becoming one though...
