Scholarships are on a year-to-year basis. People don't get their scholarships renewed the next year all the time. Schools usually will mask it for something else like a "medical issue."

People don't relaize this. Hell, kids who get scholarships don't realize it either.

But, can someone breakdown the ramifications of this unionization in layman's terms?

Unionizing basically gives them the ability to collectively bargain certain working conditions like medical care, certain compensations, disciplinary disputes, etc.

Once these Ingrates Unionize

They can negotiate wages, days off, benefits etc. ... just like the NBAPA they can even get locked out by the schools

think you are overestimating the value a college athlete has from an endorsement standpoint

Your right, endorsements only apply to the high end basketball(women players from top programs too) and football players, so 98% of the players won't get endorsements. However your Jameis Winstons and Marcus Mariotas would easily do local ads(car dealership commercials; restaurant and nightlife promos, etc).

Who would they be collectively bargaining with? The school or the NCAA?

If I was Vince McMahon or any upstart with Money.

I would create a Minor League Football as an alternative to division 1 football right now

They want to get treated like adults/professionals

You don't perform on the court/field, you get fired, get injured than tough :camby:

It's really the 1% of College Athletes that deserve to get compensated

You do know scholarships are year to year right?

When Nick Saban recruits 38 players to fill 20 open spots on his 85 scholarship roster, what happens to the other 18?

NCAA has too much TV penetration, the top talent would still take under the table money to keep his face on espn.
