Why tho? Thought it was all about the student and education??? You sound like a uber capitalist. And they aren't unionizing for pay people. They are forming for a seat at the table to be able to negotiate on things like being able to keep their schollys after they get injured and such. Lord forbid the cats from Grambling didn't try this first cause some of you nikkas would've been supporting the institution over the labor but whatever
I had work study, it was 12 dollars a hour. fukk that, but for real, 25 dollars a hour would be nice for most college kids. That's reasonable.

I don't know about that, a lot of the kids could at least make a little bit of change doing local commercials. Only maybe a couple of kids per year would get any type of real endorsement though; really, there aren't THAT many professional athletes with national endorsement deals.

This right here. Saban would be sending like 20 kids home after their Freshman year. Instead of NFL flameouts with a degree, we would have a whole lot of 19-20 years old sent packing with nothing to fall back on.

i want to see if schools are going to be willing to keep the nonprofit sports if they do end up having to pay athletes. it's so many kids who go through school and earn their degree off that athletic scholly, but this could doom all those kids. which would be very unfortunate but we'll see i guess

If we want to keep it all the way funky, they should just get a % of the revenue they bring in. Find a happy median so the big schools can't over compensate but also won't keep the smaller institutions in the red. You can't tell me the two person swim team deserves the same amount of dough the star football/basketball player whether they be male or female. And not every school needs to have every sport. Keep some of that shyt intramural
If its about scholarships then the schools should just give the athlete 6 year scholarships.
The athletes are trying to get guaranteed 5 year scholarships from what I read. No more making a player transfer or kicking them off if they get injured or don't pan out as good as thought.
There also has to be leverage from the athletic dept too. If a kid shows up and doesn't put in the required effort, gets arrested etc- they should have the ability to yank a scholarship.

I'd be all for that but I can't trust a dude like Saban to honestly abide by it. He is basically the athletic dept. Plus a town like Tallahassee where the TPD seems to have a hard on for the football team especially would be arresting dudes just for the hell of it
there's really no solution to any of this besides blowing it all up and getting rid of college sports entirely
