Hes right and wrong.

If a server has net sales of 500 dollars, they have to declare at least 10 per cent for tax purposes when they are cashing out at the end of the shift.

So if you tip them less than 10 per cent, they are paying taxes on income they never earned.

The flipside is when a servers net sales are 500 dollars, all in cash and they only declare ten per cent. Even though they made 100 dollars:manny:

Not only that, but most places they have to actually pay out a part of their tips, as a percentage of sales, to other staff like bartenders and bussers. This can be as high as 3-4%. So not tipping actually results in the server having to pay out of pocket for the opportunity to serve the person that stiffed them. Hence, why they get real salty about it, and rightfully so.

I just cook my own meals at home anyway so :yeshrug: :manny:

Doing so saves much more money, fukk delivering fast food or going out to eat at expensive restaurants, just to eat overpriced,(over/under cooked) and overrated food.
