You've been on THIS SITE since it's inception ('12) and you are wondering about "group think"?
Check out any Tariq + diaspora + political thread on here.

I don't understand the premise of the thread when all you did was post one tweet to prove your point. Twitter is not the real world.

One of the earliest and funniest I can cite is the one about women dressing in a wh0re’s “uniform”. You may not be one, but if you’re dressed like one…:manny: The set up/joke was hilarious.

If I can pull that one out, I know coli brehs can remember more than me.

Chappelle, Rock (especially Rock), etc. You can find a lot of their old specials on demand or even on YouTube. If you’re a fan you can find anyone’s old specials. There’s a reason why all of those guys are big names. Their early stuff was hilarious. Same with Kevin Hart. Majority of these dudes had the Black audience first before they crossed over.

Katt is wildly successful without having that full mainstream success, and that is awesome.
That’s a classic joke to you? Can you even name the stand up special it was on?

Are you disagreeing that Dave is more famous amongst black people for his stand up than the chapelle show?

Did Faizon even get mentioned in that interview? Dude has been going crazy on social media. He may be more bitter than Katt. Dude was hating talking about IG comedians like Druski and Kountry Wayne not getting any real money like both of them aren’t already ten times more successful right now then he ever was

At least you know you’re in the minority :yeshrug:

You're referring to Dave chapelle as a person, we’re talking Dave chapelle as a comedian. I doubt you know a single black person that can name a single Dave chapelle comedy special. Like I said, black people only rock with Dave because of the chapelle show.

Dave doesn’t have a classic stand up special like seriously funny or pimp chronicals. There’s no classic Dave chapelle stand up joke.

I disagree with some of this, but Chris Rock and Chapelle were more known by white people before black people just due to their route. So those two actually crossed over to black people. Then took the same route as every other black comedian. Once you get popular enough with black people, then the execs want to see if white people will like you. It was a no brainer with Chapelle and Chris because white people already liked them before we really did. As a black comedian you have to go through black people. Can anybody name a black comedian who Went on to be a star without a black cosign, and becoming popular with us first? This is how we know "they were never funny to black people" is a lie. Because if it were true, they wouldve never been big in the first place.

Does there comedy change? I kinda wanna say yes. But on the other hand they are 20-30 years older than they were when we first saw them. Chris Rocks comedy isnt super "safe" or catered to make whites comfortable even today. It may be more safe because hes a grown man though. Plus he fell off a little after decades of doing it,have some grace:mjlol:

And kevin just makes safe negro movies like Eddie now. But I think we all know those are money grabs. I dont judge Eddies funny based on those weak ass films. we saw what he could still do with Life if he wanted to. Kevin i think just had enough for one good comedy special. Still funny, but not a great comedian and probably never was. Hes in movies like he should be.

I'm pretty sure both Dave and Chris got their start and gained notoriety performing for Black audiences.

Dave was on Def Comedy jam way back in 93 and Chris was in there before Dave

People splitting hairs with this shyt like it matters.

Fact of the matter is they all started performing in front of black audiences, and was able to cross over, so by and large black folk find them funny. Whether they hood black folk or not is irrelvent as fukk.

Not directed at you, but people just trying to find these insignifcant reasons why they find one person to be a better comedian is just pointless. It's like saying do you prefer Rick James over Prince. It's subjective.

Chris rock crossed over to white people. He was already famous in the black community before he crossed over to the white community. As soon as he said the black people vs nikkas joke all of a sudden he won Emmys for best comedy special. It’s no different than actors like Denzel putting on classic performances but only winning an Oscar for playing a drug dealer. Black entertainers only get recognized by the white community for reinforcing their negative stereotypes

Dave chapelle crossed over to black people. If you read his wiki page he got booed off stage at the Apollo and then largely worked the white comedy circuit. He reached his peak popularity with the chappelle show and that’s when he crossed over to black people. Dave chappelle was more famous with white people then black people prior to the chappelle show

:russ:The revisionist history in this thread is crazy. I guess Def Comedy Jam, Nutty Professor, and Blue Streak doesn’t matter. I guess all the black movies that Rock started in doesn’t matter.
