Exclusive deals on X1 timed or otherwise have been very lucrative for devs thus far. Which is why they continue to sign them.

What dev is gping to turn down a desperate mucrosoft throwing money around because theyre too lazy to build up their own studios?
If microsoft used the money they waste on timed exvlusives to fund studios and original ips they wouldnt be in a distant 3rd right now
I think their logic is but going by what they did last gen. But timed or fund a project and make just as much or more of a profit from starting their own studio. Only thing about that this gen they are the ones in second place.
Microsoft has plenty of first party IP's more so than sony in recent years.

Max and the curse of brotherhood. Plus the devs are working on two more new IP
Plus they have at least 4 or 5 studios that have not announced what they are working on yet.

Then you look at sony, and all we know of is Bloodborne, TheOrder which was deemed a joke in terms of gameplay, and 2016's Uncharted 4

Even the freebies been off the hook. Chariot is a beast, Guacamelee was a beast, supertimeforce is a very decent game, max was excellent. Xbox Fitness and TV features are worth mentioning. But back to the games. Hope you don't mind if I add to your list
