It's wild that after winning an NBA championship you would be fired in less than 2 season.

Championships don't hold as much weight as it used to to for coaches apparently

The GM was on the stupid ass Dallas post 2011 chip win of getting rid of key players and trying to rebuild asap. Malone wasn’t buying that at all. Now whether or not the young pieces are trash(outside Braun) or Malone didn’t bother developing them is up for debate. But this team is flawed af. The title win was a gift and a curse. Gordon and MPJ are serviceable but overpaid af which caused them to lose guys like KCP. Murray is Damon Stadoumire with a new balance deal

1- Randle was a negative asset and they essentially paid for him

2- There is no scenario where you trade a prime all star and dont get any youth back. Even if you think you’re in win now mode. And were not even talking super core pieces:: Keldon, Sochan, they didn’t even get Champagnie. :heh:

3- Oh shyt thanks for explaining that!?:wtf:

The worst/most shocking trade in sports history and you deadpan reduce it to that. You completely overlook the lack of any youth in return, multiple picks, or creating a bidding war

4 & 5- Again your dismissiveness is laughable.

1 - Negative asset or not, trading KAT for Randle & DDV reduced their payroll and got them out of the 2nd apron after this season

2 - Fox had leverage due to his free agency so therefore the Spurs had no incentive to give anything extra for a player they knew they could sign anyway. Also the Kings wanted vets that they felt could help them win now and draft picks, which is what they got

3 - Because ultimately that’s what it boils down to. They didn’t want to pay Luka, they didn’t want it getting out that they were trading him, and Nico Harrison loved AD. I’m not arguing that they moved smart

It’s not dismissiveness. If you would’ve told me Taylor Jenkins & Mike Malone were getting fired this offseason I wouldn’t have thought that was some shocking move that I could’ve never saw coming. Firing them right before the playoffs? That’s another story

This is literally the latest in season firing in modern NBA history, I think being more shocked at the timing than the firing itself is valid

This is a total shocker at this point in the season. What could make them better right now with just a few games left in the season? With Booth gone too it feels like Denver might be about to be in rebuild mode though they still have a title contending team.

Brother it’s the most nonsensical trade in the history of sports. No amount of devil’s advocate can change that

I would laugh but it aint funny because shyt has truly gotten that ridiculous :francis:
Same here..TheColi and others are going to talk about LeBron when he retires the same way Trump randomly just brings up Obama when something is wrong but he literally has nothing to do with it..it's that ridiculous..

Who’s playing devils advocate? You can go search the Luka trade thread to see how I felt about that move in real time. It was a terrible trade. But the Mavs aren’t the first nor will they be the last to make a franchise crippling trade. I don’t think there’s some hidden conspiracy there

As for the second part - Yeah…hence why I specifically said timing in the first post

Not full on rebuild but definitely retool

Anytime there’s a major front office change like this the new guy wants to create his own vision. Also no incentive to protect another GM’s draft picks

Not exactly a bold prediction, but one of Murray/MPJ/Gordon is getting traded this summer.

the new cba forced drastic maneuvers, the new cba was meant to destroy the warriors but they ended the nuggets as a by-product
