You can NEVER be the GOAT PLAYER.....but only play 1 side of the court. This aint football.

Dont try and make this into a "Kobe" thread, because it has nothing to do with him.

Again, I didnt ONLY talk about his offense, I also asked more questions than that:

Answer those if you support the theory that Bill Russell is the greatest. Could he deal with Olajuwon in the post?:rudy:

Im not making it into a Kobe thread. Why dont you use some reading comprehension. I was making a correlation to your dikkriding about his titles when anyone brings up stats to an argument about his being inferior. Im just filing this argument away for future sonnings.

If he dealt with Wilt...what makes you think he couldnt deal with Dream?

Post the quote where that happened then.......I'll wait:patrice:

And Hakeem Olajuwon had maybe 50, 60 more post moves than Wilt could even think of in the 60s. Are you REALLY gonna ask that question?:comeon:

No sense in sitting here arguing with you because you already have it made up in your mind that Bill Russell aint shyt. So ima let you frolic off in this thread pretending you know what youre talking about.

Glorified Ben Wallace and don't even try to argue :manny:
Shooting in the 30% range in the 60s when other big men were obsolete :scusthov:

Still a legend though

clearly you watched nothing of the videos I posted. Bill Russell played all 5 positions on offense. Bill Russell's mind was his greatest asset, the guy was on a whole different level intellectually, he "did not distort the defense or the offense".... Learned and played every single offensive play regardless of the position it was written up for, and had enough skill to execute the plays during games. The guy was a basketball genius. His mind was cleared of clutter like "stats". He did what was necessary to win. Guy could shoot and dribble ambidextrously, and brought the ball up court REPEATEDLY every game, as point, or could drive like a forward. His fg% reflected his teams fg% because he - as stated "did not distort the offense" .... that means if he got "shut down" it was a non-factor - and if someone else on his team got shut down he could rotate into their offensive duties and it would still be a non-factor. He was totally woven into his team. Ben Wallace was a brusing defensive specialist. Bill was a genius.

:dwillhuh: difference is he didn't play with 6 other hall of famers in a ten team league with a hall of fame coach vs 6 ft white boys

WTF!! Nobody plays with HOFers until they make the hall. If you use that logic LeBron is playing with 3 others HOFers and a Hall Of Fame Coach. He's no longer can be considered great. Michael Jordan played with 3 other HOFers and a Hall of Fame coach. He's not great. Kobe has never won a ring with more than one HOFer since he only has two according to you. Kobe's the GOAT.

I have the utmost respect for Bill and he is by far the greatest winner in sports. But to me he is just a glorified Ben Wallace with 11 rings. No doubt he played a huge part in them but they were a team full of hall of famers so that has to be taken into account too with them usually having by far the most talented team on the court year in and year out. And I've always wondered since he wasn't the focal point on offense how did his fg percentage end up so low. Even with that said after watching many of his highlights there is no doubt in my mind that he would excel in today's current NBA, but I don't think he would be the all time great player that he is touted to be.

Brolic... Alcoholics
Bill Russell has always been a humble dude who's supported his peers and younger generations. You never saw him being a bytch like Wilt. He even regularly gives Wilt props.

He'd be a better version of Zo in today, so people need to knock off that "but he played in a weak era" bull shyt.

Yeah like Wilt sitting down the rest of Game 7 in 69 because of his knee. It's hard for me to say Wilt is the greatest because of stunts like that.

Uh, his bball reference weight aka his DRAFT weight!?

So I guess we should only think of these players as these weights:

Kobe Bryant, 178lbs
Kevin Durant, 215lbs
Kevin Garnett, 217lbs
Nerlens Noel, 218lbs
Anthony Davis, 222lbs
Joakim Noah, 223lbs
Tyson Chandler, 224lbs
David Robinson, 226lbs

You honestly think his frame was always "215"!? Try 225-240 playing weight range through the rest of his career. And this was before lifting weights became popular. For comparison, David Robinson - even by 1992, was only 235lbs, and Dwight Howard was 240 his first season and that was after he'd been lifting for a few years to prep for the NBA. Bill Russell with weights would be no smaller than any other typical size big man today if that's the body he wanted to achieve, as a young rookie he had a world class Track athletes body with a 7-4 wingspan. When he filled out, he was strong enough to tangle with Wilt - and Wilt was 300lbs.
