NY and NJ heads, what's it like to live around/deal with "Italians"?

Canarsie didn’t turned black later than a lot of hoods. Canarsie I believe was still white in the 80s and I also watched Mill Basin turn from white to black with my own eyes throughout the early 2000s.

My dad got into beef with many Italians but my dad is super laid back. My mom did all the lawyer and accounting finding and like I always say on these boards my mom is a super c00n. She really believes in stereotypes. Even stereotypes for Haitians smh.

I think it’s a done deal. The only area that’s left are Marine Park and Old Mill Basin. Old Mill Basin is rich Italians and Marine Park is still white with blacks mostly Haitians sprinkled in.

Yet, Gucci and Moncler professed their racism towards blacks in their blatant racist designs to send a message. Gucci and Moncler aren't run by two guineas from Brooklyn. And I still see black folks wearing Gucci and Moncler more than anyone else when none of that shyt is remotely affordable for the average black person unless you make high six figures. nikkas love all Italian everything and them wops hate nikkas and always have. Everybody heard of Staten Island wiggas who listen to Hip Hop and try to act what they think acting black is but are still the most vocally racist cacs in a major metro area. Liberal cacs who live in major metro areas are always closet racists, but Italians have a recent history (as in my lifetime) of open racism towards blacks in major cities like NYC.

I agree and Im very familiar with that. Even in other countries like Haiti where i grew up we have this saying of "mouch tonbé nan lèt la" which means "a fly fell in the milk". It refers to when mulattos marry a black person which then turns the next generation of the family darker than the previous. At the same time we also have blacks who dont want their kids marrying mulattos or whites.

Which is why look at the "one drop rule" in the US as more of a unifying thing than divisive. The white man treated the mulatto the same as the natural black which unified you in a way because you were both oppressed. I dont see that particular division among African-Americans between mixed and "black" with a few exceptions

Thanks for the input. I guess shows like Law & Order and some of those movies portray them correctly. I always wondered . I always assumed some would be racist.

@AuntAnniesPretzels as far as bringing folk home that's a different case. That's the "conservative" part of things.

For example, Me being haitian, my mother would prefer that i date haitian women. When i was in my late teens and i'd bring either an African American or other black Caribbean chicks around she'd always be nice but i could tell she wasnt a fan. Hell she wasnt too fond of even the "americanized" haitian chicks either. But over time she got over it to the point she was quite fond of this African-American chick from Virginia i was dating back when i first moved to ATL.

By the way in no way does what I said above mean that i dont believe some are racist. Just saying sometimes gotta distinguish conservatism and racism

Maybe its just me but I've noticed a big difference between Italian Americans who have been here for decades and Italians straight from Italy. Italian Americans who have been in America for decades (and their children) are generally extremely racist, jealous, appropriators. Italian Americans straight from Italy are more friendly and appear to be less racist.

They are clearly different. A lot of Italians work in the fashion industry in NY and almost all of them hate the Italian-American culture.

People in here aren’t telling the full story. Unless you grew up in an area where they have numbers then you don’t know what’s up

The ones from traditional backgrounds are hot tempered, rude, disrespectful, confrontational. They don’t bite their tongue generally but they WILL switch up and try to keep it cool if blacks are in large numbers. Any black person with east coast roots likely has older relatives and male family members who grew up fighting those fakkits in the 60s and 70s because the Italians tried to harass blacks just minding their own business. The “Joey Caruso” character from everybody hates Chris is very accurate, Italians like that existed en masse on the east coast back in those days. Those same Italians are obviously still around today and they pass their bullshyt onto their children

Many of the old heads are heavy until their children has a mixed kid. I got family who were killed by mobsters in the 50s to 70s for taking their territory and women. Older Italian women fukk with black ppl more than the men. South Jersey is a different story because its like going into a different state. shyt gets real MAGA around Belmar. I made the mistake of going out with these white boys from work a few years ago. I had to c00n to avoid getting into fights.

Italians do not hide their feelings, you will know where you stand with them.

The women are not like other white girls, they are very down-to-earth. And I find them to be more attractive than other whites, especially the ones with darker skin and jet black hair.

They also seem to be comfortable around black folks. For example, the women dont act nervous when they are in the elevator alone with you.
