these are NOT exclusive minority networks....they just have a Black face for,imagery like Magic Johnson miserable ASPIRE network .

but fortunately Oprah has a Cash Money like joint venture she has 50% and controls the content..and remains independent while Discovery handles the distribution and operational services and tech affairs with the cable providers

In his case, it would be more beneficial to just drop it. Music television is a thing of the past anyways. Both MTV and Vh1 play reality tv shows, internet killed the video star...no sense in trying to save a sinking ship.

didn't know this was the underlying objective of the channel....not disagreeing with you at all, but I saw the same videos that you could find from the channels mentioned earlier - but that was a few months ago...from what I saw, it didn't seem as if puff was trying to give any exposure to anything independent...all I remember seeing was the same 106 and park look-a-like vjs discussing mainstream acts...

yeah they strayed from that Business model in an effort to draw in more advertisers who can do tie in marketing with the artists and shows like the Breakfast club.....


also pressure was coming from the other investors like Highbridge Capital whom felt it was too risky for the network to take on non mainstream acts in such a strong manner...

Online users have the worst the conversion rates and it's more profitable to sell TV ads than views. I get the whole "exposure" angle but it doesn't make any sense

Hosting concerts/acquiring festivall rights ...you might be on to something here. Live streaming is tricky but certainly garner more viewers (see Youtube Awards)

Richard Branson is a branding expert...Virgin didn't make a profit for a long ass time

I dont know, but he needs to fill another gap and try serious Black programming rather than more mindless entertainment.
Music videos are dead because artists are no longer worth seeing visually..music over the past decade has been really cheapened to the point where music is now a disposable fast product. As someone with his pulse on whats happening, he shpuld have known better.
I havent seen this Revolt, but he needs strong series, sports and Black news.

If you haven't seen or tested the product how can you offer any insight on what needs to be done ?
