@Wild self that was going to be my next question.

In the videos the crowds seem mostly black but I know Dyckman is in the biggest Dominican community in the world lol

That’s because the crowds are mostly black. Shout outs to the Brugal section tho.

Harlem reps hard up there. A lot of people from there prefer Dyckman at this point. Once you’re in that area of the city it’s nothing but AA’s and Dominicans because it’s right across from the BX and north of Washington Heights, so at the courts it’s all one community.

And yes, Dyckman is that tournament now. You’ll fukk around and go to Rucker and it’ll be just you, friends and family of the players and old men reminiscing about the 70’s Knicks.

Rucker is the elder statesman where you go to show love to those that came before. Rucker is the Forum. Dyckman is Staples Center. So many players come through and treat it like a hangout cuz the vibe is crazy. Nonstop music, food, weed, you know you’re safe inside the park even if there’s fukkery outside of it and good hoops too. Summer in many ways doesn’t start til their tournament starts.

Both of them dont do a good job keeping up their online event calendars. When do the the summer leagues usually pop off?

Weather permitting, Dyckman starts June 10. And yes their online calendar sucks. Social media is where they update stuff. They’re also the last tourney to end. Sometimes they end Labor Day weekend because they can never have a secure rain site.

Your best bet for a wild game is Wednesday night (because that’s when Skull Gang plays and Dipset stays tryna recruit big time players for their teams) and Friday night (up to now that’s when Dominican Power plays and they’re basically the “home” team. Don’t go on the weekends. They rarely play ever on the weekends. Also, July 1 is when NBA players can officially play in the tournament since they’re sanctioned by the NBA (not like that’s ever stopped anyone before)

Dominicans are Spanish nikkas :manny:

These two along with commisioner Kenny Stevens who is AA are instrumental for the league

Dyckman be having the whole city out so folks from all over be there. Also Gersh in BK>Rucker in present day.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
The official boundary for Harlem and Washington Heights is 155th st.

Except the small portion of Harlem where The Rucker is by the Harlem River Drive. That’s all Harlem. Speaking for Polo Groungs and the other projects north of it.

Dyckman is past Washington Heights and in a hood called Inwood. Very North of Manhattan close to the top.

Btw for anyone who likes scenic photography you should head out to 215th St by Columbia University Field to take some dope pics of the Hudson River, Hudson River Bridge and the Palisades of New Jersey.

Do they just not hold summer leagues anymore or is it closed?
It still exists and on a good night they can get players and it runs a bit more civilized than Dyckman, but it’s just too corporate. Dyckman has sponsors too, but they don’t mess with a lot of what makes Dyckman special. We police ourselves well.

If I come from Yankee Stadium or wherever and I’m coming through Harlem before I go home you can see Rucker Park from above. Most nights that shyt looks empty even though they’re still playing. Then you go on the 1 train to 207 and Dyckman is packed beyond capacity.

They got a documentary coming soon
