The only way to keep prices low is to increase supply. Artificial caps cost more in the long run. Queens should have been up zoned a long time ago.

Democrats like you is why Trump is in office....come with the same outdated arguments and wants to keep the status quo going that dont work......but get mad when a politician actually comes with new ideas that will make the average american lives easier :camby:

While I don’t really know all the pros and cons of rent control myself. It is a fact that more supply is the most proven way to lower prices.

With rent control there’s less income coming in. How are landlords expected to keep up with maintenance? Is there some type of clause that guarantees a certain margin percentage? To someone like me if would just make it easier for larger corporations to purchase property for the cheap.

In New York City, Rent Control tenants are generally in buildings built before February 1, 1947, where the tenant is in continuous occupancy prior to July 1, 1971. Tenants who took occupancy after June 30, 1971, in buildings of six or more units built before January 1, 1974, are generally Rent Stabilized.

They can still adjust rent. They can't blow people out. Rent control wouldn't be a thing if unscrupulous landlords didn't get the game fukked up.
The way you undermine rent control is… building more shyt.

NYC is always going to be an in demand place but why are city councils like in Queens blocking redevelopment for 10K+ units of housing by complaining about “gentrification” nonsense or parks?


The same leftists who claim to care about displacement stand in the way of building more places to HOUSE PEOPLE.

Right now NYC got around 80k homes that are just empty because they are being used as an investment...empty housing that the average new york cant afford. Most the housing in New York is owned by large corporations and they been bleeding the city dry. Even with all the money they making right now they give their tenants places that has mold, rat problems, lack of water and bad heating because they know they got the market at gunpoint.
