This stuff exists. How about getting positive programs and cleaning up the drug infested areas? Banning the music ain't going to do shyt. Changing the culture will.
.. If there are people out there committing crimes do you want them out there? NYC back in the day had 2200 murders in a year. You have to stop it early because once retaliation season starts the numbers just skyrocket.Adams is not a conservative. Adams is trying to extend school and wants to expand youth summer job opportunities.
Adams worked to uncover corruption by starting the 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement program and he was under surveillance by NYPD.
These talks never go anywhere because of shyt like this—assumptions and generalizations talking about critical issues in black and white absolutes.
nah some of these chicago nikkas saying "I'ma kill <insert opps here>" and then he ends up dead. Or vice versa. They kill then rap about it.Slippery slope. If they do this, what's next movie clips, other forms of entertainment, etc.
No I mean like building up private businesses to employ Black women and youth. Those programs are cool but not nearly enough.
One man wasn’t going to overhaul the whole system.he shares many conservative policies and talking points. Which is fine. Just dated. Never about what causes the issue and how to remedy the fact but with nothing other than “law and order” implementations.
Eric talks a big “activist game” about the dept but what came of it. A brotherhood within the brotherhood of corruption?
i dont assume. I know. I worked 5 yrs in the DOP. Ive been in countless community/police dept meetings. Its all the same shyt. By the same ppl.
now eric, who owns the platform in both arenas, hasnt shown how he will bring both sides together. But talks about rap? Okay
He is a public official and not a private sector entrepreneur or chief executive officer (CEO) hence does not have influence over the hiring practices of private business X.
He can advocate for CITY programs financed by public taxpayer money (because he has somewhat control on the allocation of that public money through the city budgeting process) that train and educate young Black people so that they can be competitive in the private sector labor market to attain those jobs.
What exactly do you want him to advocate for and do?
He is the mayor, and a public official therefore he cannot "build private businesses". He can incentivize private businesses through tax credits or other public sector municipial policies etc... but he himself cannot build businesses that hire Black youths or Black women.
I’m saying he’s part of the larger issue of older Black men pointing to symptoms of dysfunction in black society without collectively working to build a strong economic base. Many of his counterparts chose to stay comfortable working for the Man in Corporate America instead of taking the knowledge, pooling resources and building businesses.
How do you know that when it comes to Adams? There are plenty of efforts from corporate Black men who have made it that have tried to contribute to the community in various ways. See Robert Smith and Eddie Brown. Or is that just a popular tag line that people choose to run with.
The program is literally targeting low income youth people (16-24) (which is code word for Black youths) to get trained via these programs acquire skills that will make them competitive in the labor force and have access to high earning jobs.
Again, as mayor of a city and a public official. What exactly do you want him to do in his current position. He has addressed the poverty of the communities and has highlighted that it leads some to despair and commit anti-social acts while SIMULATANEOUSLY addressing this drill music stuff that worsens the violence in the city because it is not only the young people who are active participants in these things but innocent bystanders (i.e 11 months old getting hit by bullets).
Again, Eric Adams , public official and mayor of NYC. What do YOU want him to do in his capacity to alleviate the problem of violence in the city beside advocating for public programs that would train Black youths and equip them with life and job skills?
Robert Smith and Eddie Jones are rare positive exceptions. They wouldn’t be able to do as much as they’ve done if they hadn’t started their own businesses. My point is we need more Black men like them (not necessarily as successful) who are self-employed and better able to create more opportunities for young Black men. I want people like Eric Adams to stop blaming societal symptoms on drill music.
