Funny how things change in a matter of months.
I was never sold on this team, even during the winning streak.. especially during that early win streak.
The pitching was the reason they were winning and staying in games, but I knew that wasn't going to hold up. And they didn't pass the eye test.
I reserved my judgement until after they played Houston and my reservations turned out to be accurate.
And If I were the Yankees, I wouldn't sign Judge to a long term deal. They haven't shown they are willing to break the bank for players anymore to win titles, so why start now. The Cole signing was too little too late. The Stanton signing was dumb (and why I wouldn't sign Judge... they basically sealed Judge's fate with that trade).
Honestly, this team needed to suck for a few years, stockpile picks, and rebuild naturally. When you sign players like Cole and trade for contracts like Stanton, you're really setting yourself up to be good, not great. What worked in the past is long gone. It seems, like the Cowboys, the Yankees are trying to recapture something that can't be duplicated.
