With that said... I think he should have pushed it his last year in office just to get the ball rolling, even though there is zero chance it would have been done. The biggest issue is that the moment the first black president starts talking about reparations is the moment he’ll lose all ability to accomplish anything else because they’ll essentially run him out of office. You could also kiss any chance of electing another black president any time soon.

To be real, if you don’t want to neuter chances for black politicians going forward, it’s best a white person introduce the initiative to the public. Cause white people will most definitely get “scared” and stop voting for black politicians after that. It’ll turn into the new “do you support abortion” question.

If I’m Obama and I saw the fact that I pushed for a flawed healthcare plan that ruined Any political leverage I had for the remaining six years of my presidency then, I’d be hesitant to ever touch a third rail again.
