considering the 450 yr head start, why would they?
I don't dispute that. I'm just responding to those who throw out that stat about whites on welfare, because it does nothing to negate the fact that blacks are over represented in the welfare class.

its a legitimate argument considering whites pretend they aren't on welfare.

Uh...yeah. I could break the ankles of you and all your friends (if have any in real life) and then force you all to run a race, and simply use the "stats" from the results of those races to conclude that you and your friends are lazy and un-athletic.

"But we had broken ankles, how do you expect us...". Let me cut you off right there. I don't need to hear your excuses. We all have problems. The facts are that you and your friends lost at "disproportionate rates", and you finished with awful times that reflects you don't even value discipline and hard work enough to even prepare for the race. :manny:

I never liked the idea of "speaking proper English"....nobody tells country bumpkin white people this shyt, but black folks lingo and the way we talk has to go:wtb:? if Michelle Obama can jump back to her ebonics when she feel like it and shes a lawyer/writer/college graduate, Obama got the nerve to tell black folks who come from poverty how sharp we need to be and when we need to be it:dahell:?

If a white person is talking "proper English" and sounds dumb as hell that doesn't move me more than a nikka talking in ebonics speaking intelligently:myman:....some of this goes back to white is right which i take issue with.

Its certain things as black men MANY of us enjoy which get labeled as ignorant just because we are the ones doing it,and now im always cautious when blacks start talking like Obama i have to wonder if they are looking at us through the same lens a person outside our culture looks at us with....Because that's ignorance right there in my mind, along with possible brainwashing:mjpls:...just because you don't understand it don't make it wrong, and whitewashing has caused a lot of black folks to look at ourselves with the eyes of white people.

And also to you smart, possibly "cornball brothers",time for yall to stop bein beta males and man up:sas2:....nikkas stay clowning shyt that's new to them that we might not understand, thats not exclusive to education....if you stop doin something everytime nikkas made jokes and clowned you for it you wont ever do shyt....that's just what poverty and lack of education or experience does no matter what race you are,it limits your scope....its rednecks who live in a small town somewhere making fun of another redneck for talking and dressing "fancy":heh:...if you like doin weird outside the box shyt keep doing it and people will usually lay off you and you might even peak your peoples interest even though they was clowning 2 weeks prior.

Seems like the lesson needs to be for black people to stop worrying about what other people thinking to the point it stops you from doing, thats a easy fix versus telling people to stop making fun of other people or thinking what they wanna think, that will never happen......I might call you a corny nikka for my own reasons, but don't even trip or send a shot back:myman:

That stat actually does blacks a huge disservice, there is a much higher percentage of blacks on welfare than that of whites, which is belied by this statistic. It makes it seem like the problem (whatever you think the problem is, depending on your perspective) is spread evenly, when in fact it very much is not.

From my perspective, it is the deleterious effects of progressivism and the welfare state, which have fukked over blacks more than whites. :manny:

From the diametrically opposite view, one in which welfare is an amelioration of other injustices, "society" or "capitalism(:duck:)" has screwed over more blacks than whites, leading to a much higher percentage of blacks needing welfare. If I were a liberal I think I would go with that :ehh:although perhaps it's just easier to score political and black points by pinning it on conservative southern whites.

Obama: No ‘authentic’ way to be black

By Justin Sink

The notion that black men need to act, dress or speak in a certain way to be “authentic” is something that "has to go," President Obama said Monday at an event promoting his initiative to aid young men of color.

"The notion that there’s some authentic way of being black, that if you’re going to be black you have to act a certain way and wear a certain kind of clothes, … that has to go, because there are a whole bunch of different ways for African-American men to be authentic," Obama said.

"You don’t have to act a certain way to be authentic," Obama added. "You just have to be who you are and to go back to the values that you care about. Are you kind? Are you responsible? Do you work hard?"

The president also said that black men could be taunted for reading too much or speaking properly.
He pointed to the first lady, noting his wife had grown up on the South Side of Chicago in "a neighborhood where gunshots go off."

"It can be rough where Michelle grew up, but she’ll talk proper when she needs to," Obama said. "You also don’t want to get on her wrong side because she can translate that into a different vernacular."

The president added that unfortunately black men were sometimes only presented NBA players and rappers as role models, and that he hoped his initiative could show them how they could succeed in careers like graphic design, engineering or the law.

"Part of the goal of My Brother’s Keeper is to expose you to more things so that you don’t think that the only thing you can be passionate about is what you’re seeing on TV," Obama said.

And the president said it was important to both know one's own culture and "be a part of this larger world."

"There’s some cultures, frankly, who have done this better than others," Obama said, pointing to Jewish Americans and Asian Americans who had retained a sense of their histories but also demonstrated academic accomplishments.

"I think this is something that we have to spend some time thinking about, making sure that, we understand there’s a way of knowing your history, knowing your culture, being proud of it, using it as a strength but not thinking that there is just one way of you then having to act," Obama said.

The president made the remarks during a town hall discussion to promote his "My Brother's Keeper" initiative, which is designed to provide a boost to young men of color through mentoring programs and academic aid.

On Monday, Obama announced that the NBA, in coordination with its players association, will launch a five-year effort designed to connect 25,000 mentors with young men of color. The league will work with at-risk students to improve attendance and performance at schools, and current and former players will participate in after school workshops designed to help vulnerable children. NBA Players Association President and Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul joined Obama at the event.

Separately, AT&T announced that it would pledge $18 million this year to support mentoring programs. And the Emerson Collective, a nonprofit organization founded by the widow of Steve Jobs, has committed $50 million for a competition to find and develop the designs for next-generation high schools.

"I always say that I see myself in the young men who are coming up now," Obama said. "When I was in my teens, I didn’t have a father in the house. I took me a while to realize that I was angry about that.”

The president said he grew up in "a pretty forgiving environment," unlike some young men today.

"Some of the costs of making mistakes, they weren’t deadly," Obama said. "I wasn’t going to end up shot. I wasn’t going to end up in jail."

Stop smoking weed breh, this post is largely incoherent.

With that said, how many "country bumpkin white people"/rednecks do you know run companies and are productive members of society? Appalachia is steeped in poverty, yet you don't see them begging for jobs because they're resigned to mediocrity. So if hood nikkas have no intention on limiting slang, then they too are as resigned to mediocrity as their white counterparts.

Do you guys realize that Obama is the President of the UNITED STATES? How exactly is he, being constrained by the Constitution in how much he can do domestically by the States, supposed to specifically help out Black People when leading a country in which they are a minority? :beli:
