Buy in bulk, shop on the weekends. Also, no republican or goofy TLR dude, if a chick doesn't want to deal w/being a single parent, she should marry her kids' dad before she has em. Western law is on her side.

Exactly.

Life ain't meant to be easy, but there are better ways to do things in the long run.

And there are papers pointing in the opposite direction
http://www.davidson.edu/academic/economics/foley/eco324_s06/Neumark_Wascher AER (2000).pdf

Even though many are attempting to make this a left/right issue, a majority of economists are against minimum wage including those who lean to the left. Alan Krueger and David Card's work has been influential there is no doubt about that, but let's not front like this is an open and shut case.

what majority of economist? never heard about a study or servey alluding to that but i don't mind seeing one though.

of course it's not open or shut case, like i said there is no solid theory on these things and we can only look at the data, which is another issue in itself, but the paper i posted precede the ones you did with new data from increases in the mid 2000's and and it breaks it down on a more granular level nation wide rather than just two states.

Here is the survey paper... http://hercules.gcsu.edu/~cclark/Survey of Republicans, Democrats, and Economists.pdf

And here is a more recent paper from Neumark and Salas in which they discuss the Dube, Lester, Reich paper.

if you're a "small business owner" unable to shoulder the financial burden of a minimum wage hike, you should find another hobby.

everything you've written is apologetic drivel for rich a$$holes and wannabe ceos. it's not borne out by facts, since it's already been explained in this very thread that previous raises of the minimum wage did not adversely impact the economy.

you want to talk about "open assult" on small business owners? how about the ongoing assault on the poor by corporate america and pathetic apologists like you? do you get a cut of their profits? nope. are you paid to parrot the virtues of adam smith? nope. why do people like you come to the defense of obscenely rich a$$holes that fleece the middle class and starve the poor?

:rudy:

LOL

It is not that small businesses can't afford it. No, small businesses will try to raise prices to absorb the blow. Those who have customers who are resistant to price increases will go out of business.

Would you rather be left with faceless corporations? Apologetic drivel??? I have at no point defended the rich, I am saying that this will not help THE POOR. There is a difference. Are you even reading my responses?

Yet, you say small businesses owners should find another hobby. lmao. The way you are talking you would rather rigid corporations running everything with the rest of the population working under these entities at "$9/hr". No thank you.

Most of the job creation happening is coming from small business, while corporations are laying people off. If corporations become any more powerful they will absolutely crush small businesses and EVERYONE will be an employee.

If someone comes up with an idea, the corporation will either steal it or buy them out. This would be the .01% vs. the 99.99%. You aren't really looking at the big picture are you? Never trust businesses too far removed from their customers.

I feel sorry, if you ever come up with a great idea and have a hard time going anywhere. Every company started out as a small business.

I want a nikka to show me a small business outside of a cleaning service that's paying it's employees minimum wage anyway. It's the big corporations that are the ones who need to be told "This is the lowest possible you can pay your people".

We already did dude. But to expand further, many, if not most businesses employing people making minimum wage are not big conglomerates with greedy execs hogging all the profits. shyt most of McDonalds restaurants are not owned by "McDonalds", they are franchisee owned. Supermarkets and other retailers w/a lot of minimum wage work are low profit operations that are also largely family owned. And they all sell shyt that mainly poor and middle class people buy and spend the biggest % of their money on.

Plus again, minimum wage workers make up <5% of workers, but work in fields that serve and affect 99% of the population. Yall nikkas need to think further than a paycheck

What does any of that have to do with the chart?

Do you not see how that chart is relevant in regards to Obamas decision to raise the minimum wage?

My point was its not as simple as 1 chart

And $15-18K/yr has never been a living wage. So minimum wage is totally arbitrary and just adds an unnecessary cost to doing business

I still think they shouldnt shift that onto private business. There are already going to be a lot more part time folks w/ Obama care.

and honestly...I got by fine making $16K some years in my 20's. People dont realize how much money they waste. A poor person in this country is a God in a good chunk of the world.

That's because shyt is dirt cheap in those countries as opposed to here. Look at the exchange rates.
