I would love for one of the liberals, or Pro min-wage hike individuals to explain to me how giving some one with few option even less options, is suppose to make them better off?

This thread ballooned since I was last here, did those doomsday saw niccas talking bout your gonna lose your jobs and small businesses will fail and a big Mac will cos $13 ever address this?
True in a sense, but a lot of these families of 4 that I see, is like 3 kids and one Mom, no car, on the trolley, it's 6:45 PM and the kids are crying and hungry, everyones been at work or school all day, how do you get to a grocery store? Bus? That's like another hour or two, then cook. Crying and hungry kids need food, quickly, so you grab the $1 menu items at a fast food place, kids are quiet, and it solves the issue at hand, what doesn't do is provide any nutrition, and the kids are starving waking up, then they get free breakfast, if it's available...it's just a nasty, vicious, cycle of poverty, lack of education, lack of opportunity, and of course personal responsibility factors in, but do the kids deserve the harshness of some of the more 'fiscal conservatives'?

That chart wasn't anything special. Most people already know this.
How does $9/hr help this though?
Despite many wage increases since 1968 we are doing no better. Basically min wage buys less than it did in 1968.
Another wage increase won't fix this chart or make things better.
This is way deeper than just minimum wage. Inflation is outpacing wage increases. Solve that. Are you going to raise the minimum wage forever into perpetuity without solving the real problem. This monster is too big and min wage is a bandaid on a gunshot wound.
breh...Ive been out of the countries plenty of times. That's because shyt is dirt cheap in those countries as opposed to here. Look at the exchange rates.
A chart for some of you smart dumb nikkas. How are you ok with the power of minimum wage steadily decreasing while this nation gets richer and richer?

This is not a win because of the simple law of supply and demand. As labor cost rise (employee wages) the amount a supplier/producer pays for the the cost of production increases all together and to maintain a profit margin, they will adjust as needed. This includes reducing the amount of employees they hire and possibly laying off current ones. This isn't rocket science.
My point was its not as simple as 1 chart
And $15-18K/yr has never been a living wage. So minimum wage is totally arbitrary and just adds an unnecessary cost to doing business

I still cant get over this. This dude is basically putting the decision into the hands of even MORE politicians on a state by state basis. Like some out of touch Wyoming cat is going to make a serious debate when more than half of the country lives in big-medium sized cities that deals with situations like people who work full-time jobs, spends almost nothing to contribute to the community, and has to apply for SNAP benefits. People in NYC were making less than $8 an hour not too long ago and this is somehow acceptable to you? The greatest city in the world, but only to those who can afford it. I do feel for small businesses, but overall its for the greater good to the population. Most people are in rent controlled areas in big cities so they will benefit almost immediately.Says the new yorker that apparrently doesn't understand economics. The correct statement you should have said is that the STATE mimimum wage should have been etc. The federal goverment has NO Business dictating what the federal wage should be because every local principalities' economy is different.

I swear the conservative types in this country continue to prove why they are in trouble and stuck in their own bubble. Oh, raising the minimum wage? I can't hire the additional 20K employees that I was never going to hire anyway. Yet I'll throw the fact that it will cost me a certain x amount more, yet lets not talk about the fact that we had a record quarter in profits not too long ago LOL.
The funniest part is that dudes like HHL4E eat it up![]()

Why don't some of you take voluntary pay cuts? You know, do your part to keep prices down and curb inflation?: mjpls:
Bandaid fix... we shouldn't have so many people making close to minimum wage in the first place....
Yall keep feeling like yall are doing your boss a favor by staying broke. This shyt is sickening. Sheep like you love to see the top get richer while your broke ass will keep arguing why it should stay that way.
Who ever said minimum wage is a living wage (well one guy in here said it, but he's anti-minimum wage and proven himself to be a nut)? It's the MINIMUM wage, for chrissakes. Most of us agree that $18k/yr is living in poverty and not doing "just fine"
Why should they have to? Real talk, it won't be long before much of McDonald's and other fast food places are automated anyway. The jobs are not hard at all- if they were they would be worth more than minimum wage and the least skilled workers in the economy to doBlame the CEOs for that shyt. People acting like McDonald's can't afford to pay their workers more when they always make record-breaking profits![]()
