pretty much. If you a grown up getting all exciting about making $9.00 per/h you need to go back and think about where you f'd up in life.

So we can't be happy for nikkas we know in life that didn't make the best decisions in life or our younger family members? :beli:

It would be better if he encouraged the states to raise the minimum wage individually.

This could kill people in the country and rural areas. Say good-bye to your business if you can't afford it. SMH

This will lead to more layoffs, more job responsibility, more stress, etc.

As usual with unintended consequences, people are not thinking about it beyond the first two moves. The second and third move will not be good in many areas.

New York is different from North Dakota, if he raises minimum wages then no state can go below the set amount. This means that a small business in Oregon will have to pay employees $9/hr, when the owners probably don't even make as much. Like Kalik said above, the owners will be forced to raise prices, which means that that $9/hr is the same as when the person was making $7.

Why don't politicians think this way? When I heard Peter Schiff argue against minimum wages, I was like wtf, but now I can see why these policies never work. These decisions are better made on a state by state basis and not nationally.

this is the problem I hate when it comes to feel good politics....you do this sh!t you kill off plenty of minimum wage jobs..Some employers will lay of some people if they can get one person to do the job of 2

I have no problem with that personally, probably because I am the guy at work who does the job of two people and if/when the hammer comes down it will affect others around me, not me directly.

$9 an hour is still a very weak minimum wage though (even here in the south), I already make more than that at my entry-level job so if he said that I'm disappointed at that lowball number. What they need to do is adjust the minimum wage yearly to inflation which would make it $10.50 an hour.

It had/has to be done. The state of NJ has a minimum wage of 7.25 which is terrible. At least if it goes to 9.00 people can be able to afford to buy stuff and thus leads to more spending and when you buy stuff it leads to the stores being more busy and more jobs will be created.
