He trying to collapse the economy. No good can come from this. If minimum wage is $9. You gonna start paying $13 for a meal at McDonalds, eventhough McDonald's pays that already but

businesses arent going to take that hit. They are just going to raise their prices.
People dont understand that you cant tax the rich to make things fair...they just charge you more.
And its not really affecting the rich...its the guy w/ 5 employees thats just barely making ends meet that will feel this.

It will affect the rich. Difference is they will downsize, layoff and hire temps with no benefits. Or keep a revolving door where hardly any employee makes his 90 day probation. This is a terrible idea.

So what happens when the state shows it has no interest in raising the minimum wage? What happens when politicians are so dependent on huge money from owners of businesses who have it in their best interest to keep the minimum wage suppressed that nobody ever takes up the cause? Can you give me any reason as to why NY and NJ should pay the federal minimum wage given the cost of living there?

If your business cant afford to keep up with inflation in terms of paying the employees then maybe you should go out of business.

more dumbacrat logic

wages increase...prices increase to off set the costs of labor and/or the reduction of the labor force.

dumbacrat response:

"buh buh buh my President is BLACK"

The price of shyt is going to increase. While McDonald's already pay their employees pretty well, they too will be forced to pay more for goods from vendors who often times do not pay employees that well and those cost will be passed on to you the customer.

There are so many moving pieces to this. It is not very simple.

As far as politics, voters can use initiatives, recalls, and referendums to do the job. I agree that the corporations (and the gov't) have slaved out so much of the population that few have the energy to pay attention to these things.

The process starts with realizing that raising minimum wage will only hurt us in the long-run, while making someone look good in the short term. The whole system is secretly screwing everyone from the top to the bottom. I won't even get started on that right now.

You are right inflation is a problem. Wages aren't a problem if prices are cheap and things are affordable. You could make $1/hr and if bread is 30cents you are good. A lot of this starts and ends with the government, but not with the gov't trying to help though. When they help, they hurt. It's very perverse.

It's hilarious how they are buying this lollipop legislation that he is offering. For some odd reason people actually believe that the "rich" (entrepeneurs) are just going to give up a larger chunk of their share. Retail profit margin is usually 20% or so. They are not going to shrink that margin for the sake of paper mache politics, they are going to maintain it all costs; whether it means raising prices on goods and services and/or reducing labor costs.

It's the new "trickle down" economics at play.

Since 2007 not much has gone up at all to the point where the extra 1.40 an hour didnt help. Just gas and that doesnt have anything to do with the minimum wage.
