Did anyone peep this...

@ $7.50 hr x 40 x 52 weeks = $15,600

@ $9.00 hr x 40 x 52 weeks = $18,720

The poverty line is $16,000. So if these adults make over 16k, do they lose their welfare, ebt, section-8, wic, minute (obama) phones, etc, etc???

If so, is the the Govt plan to get people off welfare? That $2720, doesn't make up for everything they would lose

I still think they shouldnt shift that onto private business. There are already going to be a lot more part time folks w/ Obama care.

and honestly...I got by fine making $16K some years in my 20's. People dont realize how much money they waste. A poor person in this country is a God in a good chunk of the world.

Yes, they could do that, but now you're just arguing just to be different. A bare minimum for the nation does more for keeping state's rights intact. $9/hour is poverty in America (based on 40hr work week) regardless of what state you're in. The federal minimum isn't above what any state's minimum should be. How a state chooses to let their minimum wage track cost of living in their state has always been up to that state....what's your reasoning for changing it now? Has some state been failing to keep up? Has some state been unfairly hurt by the national minimum wage?

First off, I'm not arguing. I shared my opinion about something and you didn't agree with it. Take that for what it is...don't make it anything more.

Secondly, $9 an hour at the end of the day for any state is still poverty, I agree with you and I understand that. However, for SOME States, $9 will go alot further. I just don't feel that every State should have the same minimum.

This likely varies by state, but I know that in my state you don't have to earn less than $16k to get government assistance. As far as the federal level is concerned, I have no idea where you got that $16k from....it depends on the size of your family, but for a single person, the poverty threshold is around $11k.

You right breh..... I was going by something I had read single mom, said 16k But I googled it and got this: ASPE

So these single moms with 1 or 2 kids still poverty at $9.00

They don't. You claimed you understood that yet you're still stating this as if the federal government is imposing a single minimum wage which will every business in the country can use. Individual states can, and will, impose higher minimums.

USPS? :heh:
How many billions of dollars do they lose a year because of pensions etc??

Like I said before...people get paid what they are worth. CEOs get paid that money because if they leave a companies competitors will have no problem paying them that. If the greeter at Walmart gets fired nobody will notice because anyone can do that job :snooze:

And Walmart makes their money on volume. Their margins are crazy low...thats why they are able to throw small businesses in the bushes. And that small business that was sticking around even though Walmart was in town? oh yea its a wrap for them now because they cant afford that $2 bump.

I'm not sure what you're arguing. My point was those two companies have more US employees then any other company and they don't pay min. Wage

if youre not joking, you americans really losing b

So because you did it, everybody else should be able to do it?

yes. People need to take responsibility for their actions.
