What do you do, just curious? There's actually 4 of us on this board. All IE's . @iamstr8fire
hilarious....
But cosign this thread. I agree with most of the thoughts.
- I do love owning my own home
- rental property sucks with horrible tenants. If you gonna rent a place out, make sure it's in a desirable location (not the hood). Hood tenants are the fukkin worse. When you have better places in better neighborhoods to rent, people tend to want to take care of your shyt more
- having a good mate is rediculously important, esp in this day and age. 2 career oriented people gotta be on the same page. I travel 80 percent of the time so my ole lady is pretty much a single mom during the week. Thankfully she has a job where she works at home the vast majority of the time and when she does have to travel, her retired mom can come up and help.
- I haven't run into any real c00ns during my career as crazy as that sounds. But at the same time, there aren't many of "us" in senior positions regardless. The ones I've come across are cool and real as fukk thankfully.
- the whole "I know you got it" shyt REALLY pisses me off when it comes to nikkaz.
- you gotta broaden your horizons and open yourself up because you are going to be dealing with white people. They can be interesting, but watch dem mufukkaz when they say slick shyt and check em.![]()
There is a problem with the changing your circle of friends thing though: As a black man, once you leave the people you grew up with behind, there is nobody you can trust anymore. Nobody, you can never let your guard down. At the same time, you outgrew your past and there is no way back.
I know, but it happens, because you outgrow them. I live in a different country now, I'm dealing with completely different shyt and move in different circles. Of course you can dtill visit and hang out, but it's different and there is no way back.you aint gotta leave your OG homies. just expand your horizons to new people. i still got my goons but now i got another circle full of lawyers and accountants.
i had to step out my comfort zone tho.
c/s i remember when i copped an ipad and started bringing it in to use for work, had a few people like "is that the new ipad? Were paying you too much moneyExcellent thread. I guess I'll add one little gem about work that I have noticed.
Never come to work in something new and if you do, come in something that is moderately priced. Work car vs Personal Car. Work clothes vs Personal Clothes. I do this shyt like I'm Bruce Wayne. Old white folks and c00ns at work will notice immediately if you are making too much money.
Show no fear. Deal with most problems honestly, but never react immediately. I have a rule on deal with problems. 20 mins max. I have a temper so when a problem occurs I sit down for twenty mins and write out my solutions. Then I stop thinking about it. Then about an hour later I come back to the problem looking for solutions. It might sound crazy but I do this all the time with huge problems. Anger clouds the mind.
When you start making money or people perceive that you are making money people start to form an impression of you that is wildly different than who you really are. That goes for friends and family.

@Mr Hate Coffee you forgot the most important one
- These hoes ain't loyal
Only one I disagree with is the home owning one. I love my house, but i just bought it a few months ago. Still furnishing it, but once it's done shyts gonna be so damn piff![]()
, the next day a fukking squirrel had gotten into my oven vent
, etc. etc. All kinds of crazy upkeep that I didn't have the time or patience for.First off, I'm officially in the "100 dap club" for one post.
The home owning one depends on your preferences and location. I'm not a handyman type nikka and there was some crazy white flight going on where I lived. So when it came time to sell I lost $20K like it was nothing. But there's pros and cons to owning vs. renting. I guess home ownership wasn't what I thought it was. It was just a constant hassle to me.
One day the water heater would break, the next day a fukking squirrel had gotten into my oven vent
, etc. etc. All kinds of crazy upkeep that I didn't have the time or patience for.
First day I moved in the furnace wouldn't light
