The hate continues :heh:
Kypreos: Subban wins Norris Part II - HFBoards

Some dude thinks Dan Hamhuis and Dan Girardi deserve to make Team Canada more than PK :deadmanny:

This is a bit discouraging. Im a big bruins fan but outside of that Im not engulfed in hockey like most other fans (although being from Boston i frequented BU games and went to my friends brothers games a lot as a young child). Idk what it is in the hockey culture but I always sensed an uneasyness around the ppl there (this even being a white person lol). They were very "cliquey" and i just couldnt understand why most of the hockey parents i saw were a$$holes and able to severely verbally abuse a 12 year old at the drop of a hat (not even their own child mind you). Idk this is just an outsider perspective but theres something different about the hockey culture if you know what im saying...So i see why they wouldnt be all that welcoming to accept black players is the point i tried to make there.

Anyhow, game 1 tonight and I gotta say, the Hawks are definitely a team I fear more than any other that the B's have faced :lupe: Should be some good hockey and a great series for the fans tho.

I played hockey, basketball, and soccer as a kid and I can say that hockey parents are without doubt the worst. I remember this one time when I was 8, one of my teammates moms slapped our coach for not giving her son enough ice time. Another time, some hockey dad threatened to beat up another one of my teammates in the parking lot for shoving his son. I even had a spectator call me a monkey during a tournament in Northern Quebec when I was 9 or 10. I never experienced or saw any of that when I played basketball and soccer.

I remember one time I was watching an interview with the Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin. He used to play pee-wee with Mario Lemieux as a kid and he said some angry jealous parents would spit at Mario for making their sons look like fools on the ice. :snoop:

One of my co-workers has a 12 year old that plays hockey and he has stories for days about the stupid parents he sees everyday.

Its so weird to hear that this is happening in other places. It really is a culture that has developed mostly among the competition of parents. Locally (I believe it was a town called Reading, i'll try to look it up tho), there was a hockey father who beat up another parent after a game so bad, i believe the guy died from injuries and manslaughter charges were brought over a youth hockey game :mindblown:

Not to mention Mike Milbury (on NBCsports, ex B's player, still on TV somehow) was coaching his sons game (im sure you know the story) and began shaking and screaming at a player on the other team during post game "good game" handshakes :why: I believe his son was 12 at the time.

I had chalked it up to what ppl call us in Massachusetts, "Ma$$hole" behavior (as the Milbury incident was local as well) but to read stories of racism with national teams and the ones youve experienced i just dont get it. I'll never understand why adults feel like thats appropriate or why its primarily a hockey issue.

I think I remember hearing about that story where the guy died, very tragic that it had to happen in front of small children.

Even in the pros, fans act like idiots.

Hockey is one of those sports that brings out the "stupid" in people. I think it's the violence on the ice combined with the drunks in stands. Some people treat their favorite hockey teams logo like gang colors.

I have some friends that went to Boston a few years ago to watch a Canadiens-Bruins hockey game and a basketball game. They said that the Celtics game was great, no fights or idiotic behavior and everyone got along just fine. The hockey game was a different story, there were Habs and Bruins fans fighting in the stands and throwing beer and popcorn at each other. Don't think that I'm picking on your city, because this same crap happens in Montreal too, I've seen it with my own eyes. Philadelphia, New York, Toronto, and the Western Canadian cities have alot of these morons too. If you were in Vancouver in 2011 wearing a Bruins jersey, your life would have been hell.

Ya i can attest to that about B's/Montreal games, that shyt gets outta hand at times more so than other games, but even some of the other games i see ppl doing dumb shyt against Flyers fans. Ive seen a guy trying to take a piss in the bathroom and crowds of bruins fans yelling homosexual taunts and shyt ("go back to philly you fakkit"). On the other hand ive been to plenty of Celtics games and its more of a family atmosphere (at least id rather take my family there than a B's game, less risk).

And ya i remember in 2011, Canuck fans were assaulting B's fans in the street and starting fires :merchant:

I cant imagine making the travel from Boston to Vancouver only to be beaten up by a drunken group of pissed off angry fans, after you witness your team win the Cup :heh:

Definitely one of those sports where the emotion/alcohol is too much and ppl spaz. Sorta like soccer in Europe or something I guess, how they have hooligans and such.

if he did that in Boston as an opposing fan i know 100% fact he would have gotten stomped out cameras and day time and all. Vancouver is faggy time they burn theire'yre streets for no reason. Remember when the Red Sox/Patriots were winning and we rioted like 3 people died in that shyt over those years in Vancouver they make out in the street

Bruins aint more physical or bigger than LA and Chicago took em out in 5...

People saying Bruins,i dont see it...they played 3 weaker and flawed teams who either sucked on D or had no goaltending or both...They havent played a good balanced team all around yet...

As i have stated since the first round the physicality and this fake aura of this Bruins toughness is way overrated....

They play a simpleton game that relies on traffic, bounces and luck...they are good in goal and back end...i really think they are overrated tho...and i do think the Hawks forwards will give them alot of problems...

Hawks in 6

Bruins are way more physical than la Breh, and the pens were a weaker team? :beli:

Bruins in six.

Yes, I remember specifically when the Sox won it got real crazy but that is kinda an exception to the Hockey vs other sports rule. And I believe there was 1 woman who died because she got shot in the eye with a "non lethal weapon" that was used by police to control the crowd. Other people were flipping cars and doing all kinda of dumb shyt tho :heh:

But in all honesty it really shouldnt be celebrated the acting like animals and shyt :yeshrug: I know its Boston culture to take sports to the max as Ive lived here 23 years now and I have that barbaric sports fan inside me :wow: But ive always kept my shyt under control when it comes to hurting other teams' fans, i can honestly say that.

And the Vancouver fans did rough up quite a few B's fans, if i can remember correctly. It was on the news, and it wouldnt have been unless it was an issue. But im not sure how far Boston fans wouldve taken it to the guy you posted in the vid had that been another team...It wouldnt have ended well for him tho :merchant:
