Yang's whole campaign is to lessen the safety net in the form of UBI. He's a libertarian because he's antagonistic to everything that was built in the new deal in favor of some type of freedom of choice or what have you. UBI isn't libertarian but Yang is using it as a trojan horse imo. Also libertarian isn't a bad thing in the classical since, it's just a disagreement.
