Bernie was asked a question on racial issues and said I want to get back to climate change. The moderator checked him and said please stick to the topic. Bernie tried to save himself by saying climate change will hit people of color the most and started rambling. It was a really bad moment, because it seemed like Bernie was trying to avoid talking about race.

Biden moment was even worse. He was asked directly about reparations, and changed the subject to immigration. The moderators didn’t say anything.

Wow. I just saw some YouTube videos about it and that's not a good look for neither, but especially for Joe Biden who is polling so high with Black folks.

At least Bernie got called out for it, Biden didn't. Smh

Whatever, I’m tired of this being an excuse. A good percentage of Americans deny slavery existed and others feel it was great for us - “hey, at least you’re not in Africa!”. We haven’t even gotten a formal apology from the office of the president...slavery and the ongoing disenfranchisement of black folks needs to be addressed. But like has always been the case wit’s political parties in the us, they find ways to jingle the carrot on the stick while having no intentions of ever handing the carrot over

We should also consider during various European governments for the slave trade like the Caribbean nations tried to do :ehh:

There isn't even an agreement on what reparations should look like and who they should go to nor what they should cover.

Black Americans certainly deserve a formal apology for slavery and the myriad of other racist actions taken by the government and its citizens over the years.

But reparations aren't happening. It's half as popular as M4A and we all agree that aint happening either 2020:manny:

I’m not thinking it will happen in 2020, but these polls stop the conversation from moving forward. M4A ain’t happening, but it along with ACA, have been a part of moving the healthcare conversation forward even tho there is no agreement on how it should look and varying disagreement. People want to just not even talk about reparations, that’s bullshyt, and the further removed we are from “the end of slavery” the more deniers there are

Pretty much why I don't see it happening and I don't see it as a litmus test for "tangibles."
